Slaine
Time-travelling windbag who grants mercy to an array of boringly evil opponents by slicing and dicing them before he`s finished boring their arses off by theologising about the Goddess

Japan is not a war-zone, but it`s promisinly close to North Korea so you never know.  If you ever want to work here, Bou, drop me a line.

(from Made in America, by Bill Bryson)
In response to the increasing sottishness of Americans there arose a vigorous temperance movement in the early nineteenth century and with it a new word: teetotal. No one knows where the word came from but, as ever, there is no shortage of theories. The most plausible is that it was simply a jocular way of emphasizing the `total` in `total abstinence`. It appears to have first been used at a New York temperance meeting in 1827 and was common in both Britain and America by the 1830s

this IS a fun thread, Tank grrl is right.
As far as I know, I`m one of only three TISM fans on the board. I`m a teetotaller too (ie I don`t drink alcohol). Unlike Krusti, this is not because I`m better than the rest of you, but because it`s no good for me.
As for being a transplant, that was Shane05`s term not mine. I`m here in Japan on a three year spouse visa. Next year I have to go and prove I`m still married.

I`m the guy from Japan (well the only one that I know of). I am indeed a transplant, being actually Australian. I think there`s three Aussies on the board

I think I`m bald rather than balding. Moving right along from that, there seem to be a lot of other things we have in common, some dorky, some less so. Maleness, for most of us, would be writers, a lot of other cultural stuff

Devon`s Daddy, Bush already has Australia, invading would only formalise the arrangement at great expense.

my guess would be Iran, but I would have thought it`d be a while, what with them being bogged down in Iraq.
Since Iraq has been so difficult, maybe they`ll go for something safer and easier next time, like Jersey or New Zealand.
