General / Re: what do you do on Sunday?......
15 December, 2003, 01:00:35 PM
I used to work 7 day weeks and I went crazy in that job. After that, I vowed to have one day off a week and Sunday seemed like a good day to designate.
Sometimes I go to church, then take my son to an enormous toyshop to play with the new toys. Sometimes I take him to a park where kids can use bicycles for free.  Once in a blue moon, I get up early and do a bit of work before anyone else gets up but I don`t sweat it, I just tell myself, sunday is a day for relaxing.
Oh and Sunday night we watch Thunderbirds.

good luck with the strip and your baby daughter`s medical problems.  They`ll pass.  How old is she?

cheers,

Floyd

Yes, I remember that. Hershey just says "I`m sure we`ll keep a memorial to him in our hearts" or something like that.
You wouldn`t do an Extreme Editon about him, but Herriman was a good character.

Beats me but you could probably place them roughly from the death of deputy Chief Judge Herriman, who is a regular ineffectual, sycophantic character, but who shouldn`t appear after Die Laughing.

Dudley puts it well - couldn`t happen to a nicer guy.  As well as his various crimes, he could be tried for:
 - being anti-American and in posession of oil
 - being as bad as the governments of China, Vietnam, Zimbabwe and Burma but much easier to get at
  - being something effective to do after Afghanistan
  - being easier to find than Osama bin Laden
...........and so on.  NOw we are going to hear a lot about how awful he was, how many people he tortured etc.  If he had done what the US wanted him to as far as inspections go, they would have been happy for him to still be torturing them.
  ho hum,

A good question.  I think it`s because you can sit down and drink tea, coffee or soft drink and because the manga kissa have a much better range - ie you can read all the graphic novels, out-of-print stuff and whatnot.

It sounds bent, doesn`t it? Kissa is short for kissaten, which means cafe - so it means manga cafe.
By the way, you can usally get free coffee, tea and soft drinks in these places. Lately a lot of them have internet connections too.
Oddly enough, the comics directed at girls/women, sometimes prefer to be called "comics" instead of "manga" - people think it`s classier.

Help! / Re: How do I make a poll?............
15 December, 2003, 01:05:04 PM
A starbucks with comics sounds like a good idea.
The coffee/tea etc in manga kissas is not Starbucks quality - people pay for the comics really.  Still it`s a good idea.
You`re right about the postal coffee. If I had any web-fu, I`d email you one.  Come over here and I`ll buy you a coffee.

cheers,

Help! / Re: How do I make a poll?............

Dear Nigel,
Your coffee is in the post.  I have re-written the poll. So would you go more often? In Japan the shop staff are too polite to harass anyone for just reading stuff so there`s a lot of people who only do that and never buy anything (I think it`s called tachikomi).  The shops just accept it as the price of doing business.
So how often would you go to the good value manga kissa? If you can revisit my rewritten poll, I`ll mail you a fictional caffe latte with cinnamon on top.
