Jan Morris has written a few books about a fictional city but I think it's 'literary' rather than fantasy and is probably bereft of ginger Scotspeople

I'd had The Dead Man spoiled for me by the time I read it, which was 2005.  I like to think I'd have spotted it, but I didn't spot Malone's identity

I've read the fortnightly Meg and wouldn't want that again. It felt so rushed, so strained.  It's definitely better as a monthly treat, in my opinion.

I like the idea of an ordinary judge's eye view of Necropolis and/or it's aftermath.

I'd like to put in a word for the foreign judges.  Not all of the foreign judge stories have been rubbish and there's no reason why such stories must be awful.

Overall I like the Meg (mind you, I'm  a few megs behind). There are parts I'd like to see changed (like the movie reviews and Dreddfiles) and things I'd like to have back (Charley's War, that interesting British Icons series), but over all it feels like value

an enjoyable bit of space opera with some nice art and a few unsolved mysteries going on in the background.

I'm up for enjoyable space opera, but Synamon wasn't   enjoyable. For me the portentousness and jargon obscured any enjoyment I might have had from the scenario of 'good looking bird having adventures in space', which is one I don't mind at all.  As for the unsolved mysteries - by the time it finished, I didn't care if they stayed unsolved forever

For mine, Bison was way better, whilst not perfect

I have the occasional nice chat with a Nigerian widow who has decided that I'm the only Christian person she trusts to look after 20 million USD for her. I write about the weather, music etc until she gives up (usually after about the third email)

My seven year old son was scared by the old vampire lady with the bendy straw....apart from that, his greatest terror is the occasional threat of a one day 'holiday' from his Nintendo DS

am I being accused of being an ambitious obsessive fanboy? Guilty! I love the idea of having every 2000ad prog ever on my hard drive.

However, one prog at a time it is - or rather, one Starlord at a time, one JDLOTF at a time and one Miracleman at a time

(muuuuuch later)

I'm in komics-live, which rocks.  Demonoid, I don't completely understand - I started downloading a massive torrent with every issue ever of a British weekly sci-fi adventure comic and eventually gave up in frustration.  No doubt I'm making some kind of elementary mistake there.
