Only recently got this and it is excellent, really enjoying it and looking forward to the new upcoming story.  Just one thing that tickled me though and I wondered if anyone knew the reason for it....

Why was the Rhondda one of the stronghold areas that the Volgs concentrated their efforts on and captured in the first hours of the invasion?  I live there, and although it is very beautiful, it's difficult to work out the reason why they would target it over Cardiff (for example).

Actually just thought of a reason...It's where the Mint is located so it would make sense to get your hands on that.

Still it did make me smile though..

And what I meant to ask was; is there an online element to this game?

There's an online game coming soon which looks similar to this (but I guess its one of those mmrpg things) that looked very nice.  Just read an article about the final beta test where there's a massive invasion of the city the heros live in.  Might be worth keeping your eyes out for it, so to speak.

Bou,
Good news - my friend gets these from his local so I will ask him for some.
Bad News - The buggers on a diet!

Good News; his will power is not that great so if he falls off the wagon I will get him to hold them for you.

Apparently the very best thing to do is to wipe everything and reformat the hard-drive and then re-install the lot and voila...it feels all new and shiny and fast.  Still won't let you play Half Life 2 when it comes out, but.....

Not that anyone stands a chance after Jared's but for shits and giggles,...

He'd saved the City more times than most people could care to remember; the Cits and the Judges alike had come to rely on him as a constant in a City's that was continually changing shape.  He was a rock for the City, a point of un-moving reference and to some maybe even reverence.  It was perhaps because of this that on the day of his passing for once the City that had never before been quiet, actually paused for a moment and stood still taking stock of their joint loss.

The fact that he fell in the line of duty to the lucky shot of a no-face street punk did not diminish from his achievements; to some it seemed fitting that the City that he gave everything for had eventually claimed him.  But the statue that was erected to commemorate the man was a measure of the esteem that the City held for him and it would have surprised the ?old man? to have seen the people, both Judges and Citizens, that would visit or just pause for a moment as they looked up the man that was and always would be the law.

This is from Dudley;

*Joe Dredd awakes.

Bright, burning white light all around. He can't make out details.

Strange. Last he remembers, he was fighting the zombies. A terrorist group had seized Sabbat's head from the Grand Hall of Justice, intending to use the necromagus's powers against the city. They hadn't realised the strength of Sabbat's powers.

What is going on? He suddenly, shockingly becomes aware he isn't wearing his helmet. It's been years since he saw light like this: unfiltered through the blue of the visor, his vision struggles to adapt.
Rico is dead. The memory seeps through slowly. Giant and his clone-brother had been fighting side by side. Dredd, his arms pinned to the wall by Sabbat's power, had been forced to watch as they were rendered to gobbets of bloody flesh. Hershey - Hershey was down. But had he seen her die? He can't remember.

"Joseph?" A face bends over him. "Are you with us now?" It's a woman, clothed all in white. Her face is hard to make out - maybe his optical implants are still struggling with the new surroundings?

"Joseph?" she says again, softly. He tries to answer, but his tongue feels swollen. A grunt emerges, but that's enough to satisfy her.

"Joseph, I have something to tell you. It's hard to explain, but-"

"Where's Hershey?" The rasp of his voice surprises even him. In this place, this somehow gentle place, it sounds shockingly wrong.

"Now, there, just listen a second, my dear. There are many things you don't understand here..." And the knowledge he's been fighting against comes over him like a tide.

"What's my status? Alive or dead?"

"You've passed on, Joseph" the woman confirms. The way she repeats his full name - a name nobody has dared use for him since childhood - seems somehow soothing, and he recognises an authority in her that he responds to.

He sits up. He is naked. But years of sharing locker rooms with other humans have robbed him of all trace of shame. What, then, is throwing him off-balance? He glances down.

He is young again. The hope of all old men. The scars have faded. His hammer toes have righted themselves. His heart beats strong and true in his chest. He stands and looks up at the visitor, who towers strangely above him, like a giantess.

"So what's next?" he demands, with his years of treating the greats as equals behind his voice. But the rasp has gone now and what remains is - a high tenor! A young man's voice? No. A young boy's.

The woman grasps his arm and sits down beside him, pulling him so he looks into her face.
"It's been a long time of suffering, Joseph Dredd. I've been watching over you, praying for it to be relieved. You must understand, Grud has his ways, but they are secret even from I, his messenger."

"We were fighting" he swallows, still can't get used to the way the words come out "We were overcome. What -"

"Shhh" she soothes. "Just fever-dreams. I've watched them, my child. You have a mighty imagination."

"But we -"

"Joseph, listen now. You contracted a rad-virus, must have blown over the Western Wall. You've lain in a coma this past five years, in the most terrible pain. The dreams you've had - of becoming a hero, of saving the world, even - well, you have to accept this. They were just dreams."

He understands, accepts. He rises on fourteen-year-old feet. And prepares to enter heaven.
