I'm looking forward to it one heck of a lot.  I've only seen the movie on TV, as I can't get my head around 16MB being a small download (it's not with my access speeds anyway), but it did look nice, if sparcely populated.  I always imagine the Meg as being very busy nearly all the time, so I think it may be strange seeing it less densley populated as I expect it will have to be for the engine to run smoothly.

Perhaps this will be covered in the story somehow....Death and his cohorts making people dissapear to another dimension, to finish them off later at their leisure away from the Judges, while Dredd as to find a way to bring the citizens back.

I expect not, but you never know.

online play was fantastic when I used to work from home.  Free ISDN connection so the speeds were OK, but not great.
It all came to a head though when my PC couldn't keep up a frame rate good enough to properly compete.  I'd be playing with a FPS of around 19, while some git with a super computer and broadband would be running at around 120 FPS.  They'd be in and out of my line of sight before the PC would register it.  Still had some great times playing some Quake 3 mods.  Fortress and Urban terror where both great, but UT took up most of my time.  When you get a good team together the game played so well.  Could never understand why people would want to cheat though??

Oh yes, oh yes, oh yes....

I love the idea of having to stop a supersurf event.  That could look soooooo goooood.  We will will have to wait and dream.  Who knows, if the game is a big enough seller it may gain a big mod following too.  Then you may get all your wishes.

The Trout has a fair point.  Death can have (or could) have many different incarnations, probably getting stronger throughout the game.  I would expect the game to take the source material as a guide and then, possibly, push it that bit further to make it fit a game world.  Well just have to wait and see.

Does anyone know any details on the storyline?

'Someone name 10 2000AD INSECTS! Monsters, races or characters, etc. Sorry, no prizes.'

OK, sorry miss-read it.  I'll withdraw my snake.

But, I'll give you another (possibly 2?) insects.
Giant spider that cacooned another creature (that then turned into a butterfly type thingy) that was subsequently destroyed by visiting humans because they thought it was attacking the other creatures while in reality it was a symbitiotic process.  Thus, the humans destroy the natural balance and the ability of the 'nice' creatures to reproduce.

I think it was an old FS.

Can't remember the proper name, but the deadly snake things in Nemesis that were attracted to heat, and eventually moved on to someone when the oil in the lamp they were on run out.  Scared the shit out of me that did as a young-un.

Manga,
I think that this weeks ep was something like No. 4.  I missed at least 1 so I can't be positive.

I think DD is right about the total number of episodes.  I'm fairly certain it doesn't get a 2nd series.

Suggestions / Re: 2000AD Top Trumps

For Thrillpower I think it would have to be scored roughly as follows;

Tharg - 10
Dredd - 9
Strontium Dog - 8
Andersson - 7
Judge Death - 8
Luke Kirby - 5
Zenith - 7
Sinister - 6
Dexter - 6
Space Girls - 1 (zero?)
Etc.

Maybe if intelligence was included we could mark Dredd down on that.  He's decisive, resolute, but I'm not sure how high is IQ would be.

Suggestions / 2000AD Top Trumps
30 May, 2003, 06:17:26 PM
For ages I've been hoping to get enough free-time together to have a crack at creating a 2000AD 'Top Trump' type card game.  Lordy knows when (or if) I'll ever get the time, but some suggestions on possible categories would be useful.

I was thinking along the lines of;
Armed Combat
Unarmed Combat
Intelligence
Weapons / Techy-Toys
Special Abilities
Age
First Apperance
Etc.

I think that a standard card would have 5 categories,  and that they need to be broadly relevant to as many characters as possible.  So, such diverse charcters as Dredd, Satanus, Luke Kirby, etc. need to be covered.  Therefore, what do peeps think would make 5 good categories.

Then we can get to argue about the values for the categories and the various characters.  Oh happy days!
