Well, everyone needs something to obsess about I guess, whether it's the teachings of the apostles or endlessly talking about the Mk1 and Mk2 lawgiver and the ammunition they use.

On that note, (I won the Cleveland Local Radio record/newspaper article link award 1986) I've been reading some old progs lent to me (yes, the Pit is great) and someone compains in the letters about the six forms of ammo.  They say 'standard execution' was one.  I though standard execution was something judges did to very bad people with a normal bullet, I don't think they have a special one for it.  Not only did the misguided fan have the temerity to complain about other peoples interpretations but he then goes on to make a unbelievable naive comment, based on a judge saying 'standard execution'.  Oh I wept.

How's that?  Fairly convincing aren't I?

I am still looking forward to the next one, though the element of fear has been now added.

I love the comic book guy in the simpsons, but I hasten to add I'm not the same.  I'm only moderatly sarcastic and have a relatively small percentage of fat, I'm hoping to go on the John Hurt diet, I can still squeeze into my Judges utility belt just about.

I recently stumbled across a spiderman fan site where they were trying to get a petition together to complain about the fact that the new webslingers were organic and not mechanical devices.  It was so funny, but I guess obsessive fans are the same everywhere.

There may be a bit of a misunderstanding here.  My first 2 'Worst Shakara Episode Ever' posts were just me (jokingly, I must add) comparing myself to the comic book guy in the simpsons.  If you hadn't seen the two episodes with those quotes, it wouldn't mean much to you I guess.

I have really enjoyed the strip so far, love the art as always, but the story this week had some rather embarresing sexual references which were just a huge turn off for me.  If I wanted jokes about cock stirrups and pubic lice, I'd probably be somewhere else.  Quite frankly I was horrified, if that hadn't been in I probably would have enjoyed it a whole lot more.  I'm not sure if Robbie has a bet on how many series he can add the word 'pubic' to, but I wish he'd stop.

I do like Shakara, a lot, my only possible complaint apart from the one mentioned above is the fact that for four episodes it has done exactly the same thing and not gone anywhere.  As I enjoy it so much usually I'm willing to forgive it, I just hope a more involved continuous storlyline (not neccesarily conventional) turns up.

So to put it bluntly (what?!?) I more or less agree with you :)

Well, I was a big fan but this week was a right turn off due to the dubious sexual references.

I am willing to see what happens. I'll give it a chance, but the vulgar comic interlude has really dampened my spirits.  I was a big fan too.  Still, I am holding my vote back, it may improve.  I'm also guessing that that wasn't a key episode either.

Ha, ha, well...

Not of course that I am an expert on Justice Department sex organs* but I would have guessed they take away the desire but leave it all working.  It must really help build up that aggression in a judge though.

I don't really want to go down this path (but of course I will) but I have the old Judge Dredd boardgame and Dredd (drawn by bolland) doesn't appear to have anything.  In the movie stallone had a gold cod piece didn't he?  I guess the problem with such a tight uniform is that you either have to cover it up or not show it at all.

If you ever read The kingdom of the blind, the Marshall Law strip by Pat Mills, The Batman parody takes his young wards (which he later uses for organ donation) from the orphanage where they give them 'shrink em' and extra starch the sheets to prevent any impure thoughts.  Pat Mills was probably just the right side of obscenity there.  Just.

Dredd of course needs nothing like that, as of course he always has an iron will anyway.

Ha, ha, oh I'm sorry about that one, and I dared complain about *

Must get back to those spaced episodes...

No Dredd you can not kiss Hershey, not only does your legal code forbid you, but you have taken sex reducing drugs to prevent you from wanting to.

Oh no, I've wasted my life.

Needless to say I went straight onto the internet to register my disgust on the message boards.

You are never alone with a bottle of Jack Daniels Substitute.

I also realise that jokes about serial killing aren't the best way to persuade someone that a board is a lot of fun.

Heh, heh, oh well.

Oh and I need a life probably more than you do, my iron defficient amphibian.

I saw it first! Get back!

Anemic Newt has a point, it's probably just a little bit more acceptable than serial killing, but it's more fun and there's no mess to clear up afterwards.

There seems to be a lot of differant opinions about the mag now, when I was but a lad almost everything was eiher good or not.

Anyway it's interesting, I spend too much time here because I have too much time on my hands.

Have fun anyway.

Yea, that was kind of what I was getting at.  It really got on my nerves.  I don't mind for a week or so to let poeple know it's there, otherwise I would rather it went.

I'm not afraid of your or anyone elses cock, I just thought it was unnecesary and deeply unfunny.  And if it wasn't supposed to be funny then what really was the point?  If you don't see a COCK in your comic as a sexual reference then I'm not sure what would.

As a comparison, I rather enjoyed the scene in The Two Torquemada's where Purity Brown in psychic disguise as a young man was being fitted for her cod piece by a perv "May I suggest the galleon?", it was pretty funny and 'just' on the right side of taste, something Pat mills often manages (see Marshal Law, Kingdom of the blind)

The other reference was of course to pubic lice and crabs.  Which again just seemed crass.  However of the majority of 2000AD fans like this stuff then so be it.

I could see it was meant to be funny, I didn't miss the point, you'd have to be blind not to miss it, and was the problem.

Thanks for the info.

Well, I think I will wait until the end of the series before I recast my vote.  It may just be an momentary abherration and with time I may be able to hide the painful images in my brain.

The ability to recast your vote is a very good idea.
