There's two series?!?

Oh, I see... great.  Can you get the second series on DVD, I have a birthday this year.

Well, I must have seen the end of the second, I think.  I saw the episode where they do the Empire Strikes Back ending.  I may have seen two episodes.  I realy like the Pegg and Jessica Stevenson is pretty darn yum.

Yes, I now keep a record of all my finanes, a bit like MP's so it can be looked over later.

The Spaced DVD was a christmas present, but it didn't arrive till today and I'm still waiting for the Complete Clangers too.  Sorry yours blew up.

I may have to watch another spaced episode now.  Can't... hold... off... much... longer...

Or I could get my but into gear and do some work.

General / What happened to Shakara?

From someone who cannot read Nikolai Dante without wincing, I was pleasantly surprised with Skakara, it looked great and seemed as though it was going to be pretty good, something of the feel of an early 2000AD series.

However I really wish I'd waited till it was over before I'd voted.  If I'd know there were going to be intelligent pubic lice and talk of cock stirrups in future stories my vote would have been far different, probably about 5 points lower.

Grudd wept, is this really what people enjoy?

If Tharg really is watching as he said in his editorial this week.  I'm almost tempted to ask for a Rigellian hot shot, so that the cleansing fires might burn out the impurities that are now lodged in my mind.

Puritan PVS

p.s. on a more upbeat note, my Spaced DVD arrived today.  I only caught the last episode from the series on TV and loved it.  I've just watched the first and it was brilliant.  I'm looking forward to the Johnny Alpha reference.

Well, they can do what they want with 3&4 but for me I think I'd be very dissapointed if Zenith Phase 1 was in colour, it's just so good.  Still, I'd happily be proved wrong.

A complete Zenith would be VERY VERY good.

That's a shame I told someone about the Zenith re-release last night and they were really looking forward to them.  I also wanted Phases 3 & 4.

Well, if there's anything you want for them let me know.  There is a local shop that has some starter packs still I think.  They are not reduced in any way though.  I would be happy to try and get some for you if you wanted.

Cheers

Hi All, just wondered if any of you bought that collectable card game a while back. I did and wish I hadn't (please don't license any Rebellion, I'm broke).

I never got any from the acadamy of law deal, so let me know if there was anything worth getting from there.

Here is the list of cards I need.  I'll try and help anyone who needs stuff.  Cheers

Paul

Yes, similar to the larval stage of my own species.  If that is so then it is highly nutritious.

I want (an thus may never get)...

A Dredd Fleece, probably Large, "You aren't a big man Paul, but you are out of shape." Michael Cane (no amusing comments around that potential pun trap please).  What size is large?  Silly question I know.

A set of keyrings, especially the biochip so I can ask it where it I've left it (ho ho).

A subscription with a nice X-Large Bolland t-shirt(sod the beeney's).

I'm pretty bloody broke, but I could spend the money I got at christmas for a new jacket on the fleece and get the rest for my birthday.

Yah, that is funny.  But Anderson should not get pregant, it should be me as Dredd, then I have to look after the kindergarten of children and a reader falls into the comic und I find out the true meaning of Christmas.

I must find my agent quick before stallone beats me again.

Arnold.

p.s.  I'll be back.

Old Rogue Trooper, proper rogue trooper, no reinvented rogue?  Could be good.  The series has ended three times already but I'll give it a go.  I want more GI's in it this time around.  Major Magnun and Venus Bluegenes were great.

It's a shame a great story was duffed up with those Hits and although I liked Gibbons one-off it was a bloody tragedy what happened next.

As for VC's.  Grudd knows Cam Kennedy is a bloody marvellous artist but the story wasn't a classic.  Not the VC's!?  Aaaargh!  Etc.  Etc. (not overdoing it am I?)

Anyway there are other series to bring back.  How about sacrificing a goat and trying to get Moore back on Halo Jones?

Well I think the reason people complained about Storming Heaven was that other people just kept saying how good it was all the time, when they people don't see what the fuss is all about.  Both views seem equally valid and the overall score for storming heaven is about 7, so what's the problem?

I don't think you can have stories that'll please everyone anymore.  I've been away for ages and either want old stuff I always liked or new stories that inspire me.  Once all 2000AD fans went along at the same pace, now you have returning fans and hopefully some new ones, they all probably want different things.  I think the mix in 2000AD reflects that.

At the moment there are three out of five stories I enjoy.  Dredd, Bad Company and Shakara.  The other two are okay, I read them but, that's it.  I'm sure just as many people think the reverse.

There isn't a certain type of story but I'd want:

Something that takes more than a minute to read.
Makes you want to re-read it again once you've finished.
A story where you genuinely have no idea what will happen next.
Make you pine for the next issue.
Have characters you like/loathe for all the right reasons.
Be intelligent but not obscure or confusing.
Be funny but not stupid and crude.

Any story could do that if it was well written.

For the record I think rebellion are doing a good job, 2000AD did very little for ten years (IMO).  I'm buying it and all the licensing looks really good so far.

We've got (proper) Strontium Dog and Death to look forward to.  The new strips shakara and Storming heaven all have their fans and even the ones I don't like, don't bother me.  There have been no tao de Moto's as far as I've seen.

Please excuse the long e-mail, I have nothing better to do (well I do but I don't want to do it).

Anyway good luck with your quest Scojo.

Prog / Re: Major Star Signs to Dredd Movi...

Steve Buscemi would have been much funnier in the role.  He's in ever other movie, so it's a shame he missed out on the first Dredd film.

John Hurt might make a good fink angel.

Actually you might have to do him CGI.

And I'm mortified to admit I don't even know who McTighe is.  But lack of knowledge has never stopped me in the past so I suggest Jason Lee.  Am I right?  Am I right?

Steve Buscemi should be in it (not as Dredd I hasten to add), he's great.
