Books & Comics / Re: Charley's War reprints again?
14 July, 2008, 07:11:38 PM
Sorry, just realised that sounded a bit like a lecture!

Nice to know there's another Charley's War fan out there.  It's just a great series, best of the war comics and a credit to Pat Mills and Jow Colquehoun.

I can't speak for the Megazine, but  I'm pretty sure they have said that the Meg will be a reprint free zone now they are giving away their free reprint comic with the Meg.  So more harley's War doesn't sound likely.

The reprint books however are lovely.  Introductions, articles, commentaries by Pat Mills.  The hardbacks are beautifully put together, good repro, quality paper and well-designed.

So far there are four books out which cover the Meg rerpints (up till the end of Blue's story).  The next book will be 'new' material.  They have released a book once a year, so buying from Amazon (or the like) really isn't very expensive for what you get.  Plus, as long as people support the books, Titan will keep printing them!

That and Jeff Hawke are always on my 'must buy' list.

Cheers

General / Desperately Seeking Logan...
09 July, 2008, 09:59:21 PM
I tried to e-mail Logan through this forum, but the e-mail I got back seemed to be from a Julian Hall at Rebllion - very odd.

Anyway, if he reads this or someone can contact him directly, I need to get in touch with him about some Bullets with his name on.

Cheers!

Well done all, very good.

Cheers, not a huge interest yet ;)

Also have the Complete Law in order series with 4 files.

And, a bit unrelated, a huge Michael Moorcock collection, all those Millenium Edition books.  Some signed if I recall rightly.

Probably more as I excavate the spare room.

All the best

Hi there

I'm parting with the majority of my 2000AD's (521-present with only a few non-rare issues missing) and my Megazines (from issue 1 to present, which are missing that tricky period in Vol. 3 and the start of Vol.4 before you ask).

I'm hoping to sell in chunks at the moment, rather than specific issues, so say a year's progs or a volume of Megazines minimum.

Most are in very good condition, though the odd one may have come to me a little worn second hand and some have had the subscriber postage incident, but most issues have been very well looked after.

I also have quite a few annuals (2000AD and other British comics) which are up for sale.

I'll take reasonable offers and I won't be offended by a low offer, but I'm not interested in dealing with traders and chancers.  If I'm a complete stranger to you, I'm well known on the board and easy to track down and have a 100% ebay score (ID: paulvonscott).  I like to think I'm honest and fair to deal with :)

I'm in the NE of England if anyone might want to collect.  And I'd say postage means sending them overseas is going to be very difficult (and expensive).

All the best

People will dissapear, some will never have been, day will become night, cats will mate with dogs and then be eaten by crocodiles which will then give birth to croco-dog-cat children, who will be our new masters.

Oh Grud, wherefort art thou?

He did have some at Bristol, but he threw them at his feet and cackled insanely as the peasants scrambled for them in the dirt shouting 'eat my wares, you filth!'.

Good luck, Al!

Help! / Re: Judge Death Badge

Yes, but it was always a world like our own, never an Earth that had taken a different path, or was it?

Anyway, never stopped to think about it before :)

Just realised, for the first time, that Judge Death's badge is in English.  Odd that, for an alien superfiend (albeit one whose world is very similar to our own).  Perhaps Deadworld was once called Earth?

Or it could be that it just looked cool at the time and/or made more sense to readers :)

Be aware that Death Ray #13 actually says #12 on the spine.  It has Starbuck (she's a lady!) on the cover with the words Battlestar Galactica in big letters.

Good interview, felt in suffered from a little pre-prejudice about Mills, but good show.

Film & TV / Re: BBC to remake 'Survivors'......
02 June, 2008, 10:59:58 AM
Survivors came long before Jermiah, and is a much more realstic, and downright grim show.  One of my favourite TV shows of all time.

There are 3 DVD sets out, I'd reccomend the first series.  It flags a little in the second (some good episodes still) before picking up steam in the third.

(Cue calls of it's like the Good Life and everyone is middle class and clean shaven, but that's a bit like complaining that old special effects aren't very good, and they used to make films in Black and White).

Aparently it has lots of Doctor Who ponces in, but Paterson Joseph should be good.

No expectations really, but looking forward to it, the basic concept is more relevant than ever.

Was also unnoficially remade as The Last Train.

Ha!  No, sorry :)

I wish it was, the only comics things I'd done by that point were some reviews/bits for Speakeasy magazine, some lettering for a friend's future shock style strips and some Dirk Despair and an unfinished couple of strips (including Rathbone).

There are many Paul Scotts out there, I've been one of them.
