"some of the more eloquent 'pasty no lifers'"

That would be me then.  I enjoyed the article, and where I'd heard the same answers before it's just because I'd head the same questions before.

But I can vouch that from my limited exposure that Thinky is neither pasty or a no-lifer.

Definitely the best Meg for a while.

Dredd, very good.

Pat Mills article, very good.

Britcom article good (if too short).

Torture Porn article, pretty relevant and something I've given a lot of thought to recently.  I saw Wolf Creek and I thought it was a really enjoyable well made horror film, but I found the realistic scenes of degradation and suffering all but unbearable.  I just don't want to watch people in that much pain and distress.  Maybe I'm just getting old and squeemish, but it doesn't seem right to me.  I would never watch a Saw or a Hostel, and felt I'd been tricked into Wolf Creek.  Shouldn't they show the true horrors of violence that do happen in the real world?  Maybe, just not to me.

Thought the small press was enjoyable and original this week.  A locked room mystery horror.  Nice ideas and storytelling.  Both writing and art need more polish but I thought it was a commendable effort.  If only this was the standard for all of them.

It seems to be too painful a business collecting progs in Australia Thillseeker.  Why not just stick with the collections, all the best stuff gets collected?

I thought Bruce was too covered in  prosthetics.

And Kurt Russell rocks.

Wonder what the remake's like (well, not really).

Tsk, lumping all your disperate SF in one place, because 'it's all SF ain't it?'  (Shakes Head)

I'd say your average Independance Day (action movie buff, maybe likes Terminator or Jurassic Park), Escape from LA (Cult Movie and John Carpenter fan) and Star Trek (that would be a Star Trek fan) bidders were all very different people.

See I'd consider going for the Escape fom LA stuff, but the rest of it would put me off.  I'd feel I was paying for those, and thinking if I won, I'd either sell them, or more likely bin them.  It's like serving a vegetarian a lovely salad with a sausage and a burger on the side and saying they could always leave them if they'd like, just eat the celery.

Personally, I'm dissapointed.

Judge Dredd first realised mutants were human too, back in the Cursed Earth story with Novar.  He has on numerous occasions shown compassion as well as the harsh realities of the law to people of Mega-City.  He stopped animal experiments, helped a young girl whose body had been destroyed by a rad-pit accident, saved aliens from slavers.  He's no bleeding heart, but he knows right from wrong.

Seriously, you must know this.

We've had some very good covers for the last few weeks and it got me to thinking that this has been a very good year... for 2000AD covers... a very good year... for thrill powered pics...

On the whole, they seem to have a bit more about them.  Just an observation.  In some voting for best cover I've picked between 2 or 3 faves.  It would be much tougher this time around.

General / Re: Zenith 3 or 4?

"For me Phase 1 is the original and best. 4 raps the whole thing up marvellously but is spoiled a bit by being in colour. 2 is neat in an "I thought we had his mother's eyes" kind of way and 3 has very good bits but was too long."

That's a pretty good summary of how I feel. I was a bit too dismissive of 2 and 3, great moments, but I think Morrison's pop culture persona gets in the way of a good story too many times.  The recent posts about Mark Millar's work being better when heavily vetted by editorial sums up the problem with nineties writers well.  I'm sure the land of do as you please must be a fun place for writers, but not as entertaining for readers.
