The Freedom Collective was a very entertaining  one shot idea I boiught and really enjoyed.  As David says, this is the sort of thing the small press should do more of.  Well done!

I think the best way to enjoy and appreciate comics is to find comics you love and read them.  Once you get into making comics, I think it becomes something else... and some of the joy is taken away, but that's probably not the case for most people.

All the people who are complaining are the ones who complain about other people complaining about the show, who always say the show is just enjoyable fun and the complainers should just treat it like the junk it is :p

I mean if you think RTD is the right man for the job, this is just him doing what he does. I'm not sure petitions are the way to go.  It would make anyone dig their heals in.

RTD has for me become the Tony Blair of Doctor Who.  When he came along I was just plain grateful, then his true nature is revealed, he ignores criticism and revels in spin and showmanship with little substance,  the speculation about him leaving becomes more intense, and finally by the time of his going, I'm just desperate to be shot of him so someone else can take charge and do it properly.

I think it's obvious, he means that a sinister minority have formed a cabal to expess their secret agenda.  In the case of the Scottish it's obviously supressing English Votes for English Voters (check), gaining contol of the country (check) then making us their slaves to work in their shortbread factories (it's coming, it's coming).

No, I think that's a very unfair comment to imply there is racism involved in that statement, PB.  It's just a culutural observation.

Jewish artists and writers have played an enourmous roll in American comics from Will Eisner to Art Spiegleman, Siegel and Shuster.  They've helped make Ameican comics what they are.  Equally, in this country, the Scottish influence on writing and art can't be overestimated.  Not just through DC Thompson's long history, but countless creators who have helped to invigorate British comics.

I don't think there's anything more sinister than that at work.  Can we save the witchunts for somehting else?

Help! / Mega City Image Needed
03 July, 2007, 10:58:24 PM
Hey ho

What I'm after is a nice scene of Mega City one with lots of tower blocks stretching off into the horizon, and possible a few landmarks like the Statue of Judgement/Liberty in.  I'll take scans or info!  Colour would be nice, but not essential.

Be a while before I can show you what it's for but it should be fun.

Cheers

Ah, but doesn't that just highlight the futility of all this?  It's a list, one of potentially many.  If you take it as an entrtainment, and a point for discussion it has some worth, but outside of that, no use to any one is it really?

"I think this is certainly true of the original series, which I think now relies heavily on nostalgia and an acceptance that it's a product of its time."

I still think it's a good drama, as I watched most of them while I was in my late twenties for the first time and got eally absorbed by the stories and characters.  By accepting its a product of the time, what I'm saying is that if I was making Doctor Who now, I wouldn't make it like it was in the 60's, 70's or 80's.

That said, I wouldn't make it like RTD is doing now.

BBC site says the Catherine Tate character is the new companion for series 4.  Am I bovvered?  No, I couldn't give a fuck.
