Well Scrap is a six-part series and Bek and Kawl (I feel queasy) didn't have that many episodes, so 2 out of the 3 new thrills have sort of done that.  There isn't really anything worse than being locked in for ten episodes when you hate the first one and of course this way we get to see a lot more potential thrillstars of the future.

Well Mrs Trout might disagree.  But haven't comic books taught you anything?  It's okay for intrepid reporters to pull on some tights and fight crime.

Duh!

Good point on all the new shelf titles.  There are probably more magazines on catching trout in drag than there are non-juvenile comics.

It's getting pretty irritating all this reality interfering with the comic.  To me that's part of the problem, how are people supposed to be inspired, when it's being thrown together because there isn't any better options.  I think that shows at times and people pick up on it, maybe 15 years+ there was just a better vibe from the creators because 2000AD was something different.  if that's been going on from at least David Bishop's time I don't see how it's going to change.

Or is it Zragians to blame?

Where's me pills?

I used to like those tiny 2"by2" adverts for Titan Books and Alien Sex Fiend.  Don't ask me why.

Anyway, I don't really want to see them back, but there did used to be some fun 2000AD orientated ads and posters, I'd like to see more one off stupid stuff when there's no ads, Nort recruitment posters, mega cities most wanted posters.  That's if they are funny, well done and someones put a bit of thought into them, if not they would be a nightmare.

I always think that modern covers, 90's onwards, have often been saying 'well, this isn't just a comic' but unfortunately if you open it up, it is.  You can't really avoid that fact.

A logo and a soundite don't always tell you that much, but if the people are saying something, even if it's "I'm not doing THOSE tax returns" it does, it tells you what sort of people they are.  And you might even make someone smile along the way, which is no bad thing.

To be honest, I even love the rogue disco one, because it makes me smile.  And having seen the cover, you have to know what the hell is going on.

Not any criticism of the current reign, but for me their hasnt been much of a vibe about the comic post 520.

I always remember all of 2000AD was a joy to read, not just the strips, even the adverts were worth reading. more a desire to have that same sense of excitement from the comic I had pre 520.  I admit that most of what I want is probably a step backward, hey, but it's just bullshit, so why not?

Uncle Umpty hit it on the head form me when he asked for more silly letters.  A sense of humour and an imaginaition has to be more interesting than the usual list of 'liked this, didn't like that, this was okay' that makes the input page so dreary.

I really like the thrills of the future box.  Maybe some quotes underneath would be even more tantalising.

Quotes on covers.  These big captions don't do it for me, I want people saying stuff.  In Speech Balloons!  Burt got rid of these for being too seventies.

Anyway, have a go...

Well, it's *obviously* a different Paul Scott.

I think I'd had as much luck by that point with letters as I have had with my future shocks (not a lot), only by the 13th or 14th letter did I get one published and it wasn't the funny one about Wulf complaining that he should come back and was being eaten by the vurms, but the rather awful creepy one.

Believe me, I was made to pay for it in chemistry class, where it would be read out to my general horror.  What you have to understand is by that point I was getting pretty desperate.

Although I may take inspiration from it for my latest future shock 'Tharg the Lovely' where Tharg turns out to be a big lovely.  To be honest I think I may have had more luck with that one about ten years ago.

Of course after the second letter, 2000AD was getting pretty crap, so I didn't bother, till almost ten years later, where you can find me popping up again in one of the prog 2000's.

Can you spot me?

I got one for about 50p and paid about a tenner for the other, really, it's not worth convicning your brain it's worth more than a fiver.

Great books, but they'll come out in a better form eventually and you'll hate yourself for doing it.  As will we all.

As will we all.

His artwork was on a Frank Zappa cover once, Weasels Rip Flesh.  Don't know if that was just a UK cover.

All power to the Ron!

I often find myself in all sorts of second hand book shops, charity shops and boot fairs, and am happy to look out for it.

Petemask, I must have started it about three times.  Still can't read the bastard thing.

On the other hand I found my copy of the killing joke, looked at the first few panels and had to sit down and read the whole thing (admittedly short).

It would be nice if Alan Moore had a go at truly breaking into everyday consciousness with graphic novels.

Oh gawd, self depreciating comments aside, that was a cheap shot at an easy target, sorry Scojo.
