It probably wouldn't do a kid much harm to see a bit of nudity and swering, but I bet his mum might be a bit put out by the contents if she read it.

Let him read yours is probably the safest bet.

When I was bloody kid, we bloody ad bloody comics, electricty hadn't been invented then etc.

He didn't die, it never happened.

When Carlos draws it and Wagner writes it...

Then, it happened.

Oh and Elvis and Kurt were both dicks.

I was just wondering, as someone who has written on of these, if you've heard any of them yet and what you think of the sound of them.  I know there's a sampler in the next megazine, but I'm pretty keen to know. :)

Cheers

Paul

Death's death I guess, but the storyline seems to be from a different angle which is a good sign

Enjoyed Dredd.  I'd missed the other storeis but it looks fun.  I suspect that Wagner may be tying up some old favourites of his and I think he's doing it in 3's.  3 bella bagley Stories, 3 moron stories.  A good way to do it.  Doesn't take the cahracters beyond their lifespan but gives them a bit more of a run appropriate to their poularity.  3 is a nice number too.

Didn't bother with SinDex, I was escaping on holiday (I'm just having a BRIEF keyboard tapping) so there wasn't time for something I have no hopes for.

REALLY REALLY enjoyed Nikolai Dante, I have read very little ND, read the graphic novel which I thought was a good start, but I've been dissapointed or uninterested in the other few bits I've seen.  This is now getting me quite excited though.  Loved the Tarabtula bloke.  Any ideas why I might be enjoying this more than most, Dante fans?  It's got me puzzled.

I think it's unfair to say that Avatar makes as little sense as Shakara.  It may be revealing it's secrets slowly, but it is revealing them.  Not just waiting to the end and then telling you a little secret.  Could be fun, the basic premise sounds v. dodgy and too much swearing, but okay.

FS - I have a weak stomach when it comes to food so I really didn't like it.  I hated it from the moment I saw the kebab van.  Not really a comment on the script and the art, just dodgy food stories.

I wasn't expecting anything from this prog, but I enjoyed Dante and Dredd and so it fills my two 'enjoyable' strip allowence.  I shall buy it again next week.

Tharg may now get up off his green knees, the praying may stop, he has his 47p proft from next weeks PVS bought prog.

I saw a Commando book in WHSMITHS with John Ridgeway art in just last week.  If I'd had the money I would have picked it up.

All my German came from Battle comic, so I didn't catch any of that.

No, I agree it's obviously tat.  But before I threw it away I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a Warlord fan with a big pile of Warlord comics and the only thing he needed to complete his existence was a tatty giveaway gift.

I'm almost relieved there wasn't.

Warlord was always a bit grim I thought.  Battle much more fun.  I didn't get that many war comics though.

General / Any Warlord fans?

Warlord, comic about war from the seventies, published by the miserable scottish git?

The reaosn I ask is that I am having a clearout and found a free gift from 1979.  Called 'For Valour' it is a sort of fold out card that you stuck foil medals to.  It's not in the greatest of nick, has half the medals missing and at some point I coloured in a bit with a felt tip pen (hey, I was seven).

I was going to chuck it out but there are some strange people out there and one of them might want it.  If you do, it's yours.  Free.  Gratis.  Complimentere.

Cheers

Well, Atavar was full of it this week, wasn't it?  Three shits and a christ.  Bloody hell, you could get excommunicated for that.

Tsk.  Tsk.

I did have a good old chuckle at Nikolai Dante though.  After three weeks I have now reached 'really enjoying it' stage.  As long as robbie Morrison doesn't blow it (no pun intended) with an outburst of outrageous smut.

No, seriously, it will get teens interested.  becaue then it will have an air of the forbidden and dangenrous about it.  It will also have tits, violence and smoking.  It may not be aimed at them, but when I was at school, viz was just the greatest.  As were all the programs we shouldn't have been able to watch.

They will read it whether they are supposed to or not.  I'm sure the publishers would deny it, but I can't help but feel that's the case.  Even if they can't buy it they'll get it from older brothers etc.

If so, does it make me a hypocrit to switch from 2000AD to the mud wrestling She-Hulk comic?

Lovely lovely She-Hulk...

"It's Marvel. Bur with ultra-violence! And tits! And swearing! And smoking!"

I bet the effect will to get young teens interested in comics again.  It's exactly what they want.

I would have thought that vulgar and obscene elements would appeal to the younger, adolescent readers.  I think you'll find it's the grown up's who might object, hence the reason your dad complains about the stuff and you just complain about the complaining.

If you think of all the 'classic' stories from the pre 90's.  Would they have been better if they'd said fuck a lot more or made stupid comments about pubic lice or burning pubic hair?  Yeah, obviously, that's what Ro-Busters always lacked.

It wasn't designed to be a thread calling for moral censure.  More the limits and boundaries of 2000AD than it's readers.

But as I suspect 2000AD has drawn a line between it's twenty somethings and the early teen audience, perhaps they should go for it.

PVS

(Personally I can't imagine anyone's particularly bothered about the nudity, but I think it's a bit pathetic trying to use the comic to titillate.  All that vulgar humour is a right turn off for me and the swear words just jar with me when I read them.  As for being grown up, I'm about to be thirty soon, I've seen tits and can swear like a trooper, I don't need to get it from 2000AD).
