"Rupert will be ditching his old boots in favour of trendy high-top trainers. ER plans to sell children's version of these new "bear boots". "

10 years! TEN!

This week marks the 10th anniversary of the chart battle between Blur and Oasis at the height of Britpop. But what has happened to the stars from that scene?

Well we all know what the guitarist Donna Matthews from Elastica is doing, you can see her in this months Simping Detective under the unlikey(and awkwardly slavish) pseudonym of Miss Ann Throp

Off Topic / Bizarre Magazine- readers?
16 July, 2005, 07:07:27 PM
Does anyone here read Bizarre on a regular basis? I remember it was mentioned a couple of times in the past on different threads.

I'm trying to find a recent issue that featured my brother in laws artwork. I'm told it was a fairly recent issue, from the last month or so.

Here's a picture to see if it rings any bells.

While you're at it have a look at his site too!

Thanks!

Off Topic / SCUM!
26 June, 2005, 03:35:10 AM
No, not skangers, not white supremecists, not people who skip the queue, but genuine, honest to goodness lowest form of life scum. The kind that grows in the tank in your attic to be precise.

Does anyone have an easy solution for getting rid of this horrible stuff that the plumber discovered in my water tank? My girlfriend refuses to go up there so it's down to me and well, I have visons of getting sick into the tank to add to the whole unsavoury soup that is my water supply.

Is there a safe chemical i can chuck in there? I haven't had much luck on google so I thought "who do I know that might be an authority on scum?"

So, anyone know of a product/method of getting rid of it without resorting to scooping it out by hand? please?

Mad!

WW2 VETS FOUND IN JUNGLE

Two elderly men found in a jungle in the Philippines are claiming to be Japanese soldiers living in hiding since World War Two.

The pair, now in their 80s, were found on the southern island of Mindanao, which was invaded by Japan in 1941.

The two men said they had wanted to return to Japan but were afraid of receiving a court martial.

They recently contacted a Japanese man who was in the area searching for the remains of World War Two soldiers.

Japanese officials are now checking their identities.

The Philippines was the scene of heavy fighting at the end of the war as Japanese soldiers with fierce loyalty to the emperor fought US troops.

The last known Japanese straggler from the war was found in 1975 in Indonesia.

In 1974, former army intelligence officer Hiroo Onoda was found living in the jungle on the Philippine island of Lubang.

He was completely unaware of Japan's defeat in 1945.

MOORE SLAMS V FOR VENDETTA MOVIE, PULLS LoEG FROM DC COMICS

Alan Moore, co-creator of the "V For Vendetta" comic, has publicly disassociated himself from the upcoming Warner Brothers movie project based on the comic book and written and produced by the Wachowski Brothers. And as a result, he has cut his remaining ties with DC Comics, including future volumes of the "League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen."

Books & Comics / Recommend new comics
06 April, 2005, 05:58:30 PM
Here are some new discoveries i made that are currently boiling my potato.

Feel free to add any new stuff you think might be of interest to people but we maybe missing

Pig Tale

Beautifully drawn new title from Image comics. Only at issue #2 and already it feels like it's going to be a classic.

So far we have the main character a scooter riding overweight nerd-ish type, a sinister animal experiment, and a talking Pig( good guy) and Wolf( bad guy).
Heres a preview
http://media.comics.ign.com/articles/597/597999/img_2672885.html

Bigfoot

Bought this because it features Richard Corbens art. Amazing stuff so far, I've only got up to issue 2 but I think Number 4 is out.
Written by the omnipresent Steve Niles.

Starts off in 1973 whee a young boy experiences a horrible, and I mean horrible tradgedy( the art on the splash page where we get to see Big foot!)

For some reasion the local Sheriff seems well aware of the presence of this creature but is covering it up.

We pick up the story again as the boy has now grown up and is still traumatised by the events of 1973 and wants to resolve these issues. Especially as there are reports of more attacks

The Goon isnt new but is so consistantly good thateveryone should check it out!

Hope these might be of interest, and that I've done that link thing properly!

Anything else lurking out there?

Help! / What comic was this?
31 March, 2005, 09:26:07 PM
I read this news item today about the discovery of a scripture that may have been written by Judas Iscariot, yeah sounds like something from Dan Brown...

But it reminds me of a comic, (or it might be a film?) where there is a sect that chose to follow the teachings of Judas instead of Jesus. Was this in 2000ad? I just can't think of it!

"ABOUT 2000 years after the Gospel according to Judas sowed discord among early Christians, a Swiss foundation says it is translating for the first time the controversial text named after the apostle said to have betrayed Jesus Christ."
