Suggestions / Re: Subject tag suggestion....
15 February, 2005, 12:40:32 AM
Well, my twopence...
I think that there are almost enough subjects, although a "Comics" Subject would be ok for talking about non 2000ad related comics. People DO forget to use them (or don't know about their existence).

With regards to on/off topic. I have a suggestion. When you post a message, you click on the Post Message button. If there were two Post Message Buttons, one "POST ON TOPIC" and one "POST OFF TOPIC". To the end that when the message is posted on the board, The Subject tag remains as chosen, but the Message Thread Title is prefixed with either "ON TOPIC: " or "OFF TOPIC: " depending on which button was pressed. (or nothing prefix the subject if it is on topic, but if OFF TOPIC is pressed, then the prefix is added).

Prog / Re: PROG 1426: Tiger Sun, Dragon M...

Why does TSDM remind me of Dry Run at the moment? I think this is one strip that would have benefited from being a double length first episode.

Question: On the first page of LowLife this issue, on the image of DF singing "Klegg Meat Harvest" can anyone else see the satanic writing? Is this a metaphor for it being devil music, or is it a misprint?

I think if you asked the question: "If you where only allowed to get the Meg or 2000ad, which would you get?" I'm certain that 2000ad would win outright.

As for the text issues.
I tend not to read the text stories unless I have a lot of time on my hands- and those I have read tend not to be too great.
I enjoy the interviews a lot.
The geek in me is entertained by the Dredd Files (and TPO).
I find Heatseekers to be a complete waste of space. Especially as most of those that I could be bothered to read (and I haven't read them all because the subject matter has rarely been of inerest) have been "negative reviews", by that, I mean the reviewer has taken a subject/DVD etc etc and trashed it. This to me seems pointless. I'd mauch rather read about something where the review is positive- and ultimately sells me the product.
Rennie's bit: Swings and roundabouts for me. I've found a lot of them to be irritating trash and just not my taste, and yet once in a while he spews forth something that is funny and entertaining.

If it was up to me, it shake up or kick out HEATSEEKERS- replacing it with either reprint(from the archieves or other publications) or if money permited original script- one page could even be full page Metros!

C'mon then let me have it!

Prog. The meg has too many text articles which I don't find interesting. And for me the quality of the strips in tooth slightly edge it - at least so far this year.
+ With tooth, I get weekly thrillpower, but the meg it is only once every 4 weeks.

Can anyone tell me when and where each of these promo cards were given away?

Get Mean
Hold It Creep
Suppressive Fire
The Best Of The Best

I have a copy of Get Mean, so can only assume it was a freebie with 2000ad/Meg at one point.

I like the image DG did for the inside front cover (IIRC) of the RT annual.

Wilson's attention to detail, backgrounds and buildings are too great. No wonder Tharg tried getting him back on the prog (with Rain Dogs and Dredd)- Rain Dogs shows his talents of to a degree, but that's nothing to what it was. I think the colour in these later stories didn't help. Where as the black and white of Rogue works so well for him. I'd have loved to see his take on Rennie's Rogue.

I've just been reading the progs where Rogue makes his first appearance, and am currently on the All Hell on the Dix-I Front story (which I guess is the first story in the next book).

These stories are truely great.

My least favourite is the Petrified Forest story. Genetic Killer Apes doesn't work for me (in this instance).

However the true realisation for me on re-reading these stories is the artwork provided by Colin Wilson it really is very very good, with excellent detail. Ask me who my favourite Rogue artist is, and I'll be hard pressed to choose between my favourites; Dave Gibbons, Colin Wison, Cam Kennedy, and Steve Dillon.
