OK, the Danester's review...

First up, I gotta agree- The Subs people are doing great! I've now had three weeks running, where the Prog has turned up on a Monday!

Cover: As I stated above I love it. Everytime I look at those haunting faces, I think I make out another skull- great stuff. I can see that some people might view it as an advert. (In fact I thought something was up when I first opened the envelope myself.) And Congrats to Mr Rennie for being the first script droid to be credited on the front page!

Nerve Center: Tharg's gotten too serious. I've sent him a number of "fun" mails. It's about time he brought back the input page. At least Wake was able to get the DR & Quinch figurines into the shop webpage, before the advert here.

Dredd: Yeah, end of book 3. Love it still. Is Sanchez gonna be used by the Alien Queen, or Mr. Bones? Two little niggles on the last page. 1) If Dredd's covered head to toe in Aliens, how is he gonna survive- No other character could ever survive this, not even Ripley! 2) That image of helmet-less Giant. He looks way too old.

Adverts: BLEURG!

Caballistics: I can see why people like this. I just wish I hada bigger "occult" background, so that I could get more of the in jokes (I feel I'm missing ? the experience, as I did with the first series of Bec & Kawl). The art is still fluctuating for me. Overall, I think I like it.

VC's: Oh, dear god, it's gone Tits & Arse! 1) Williams artwork is too cartoony for it to work in this strip (sorry Ant, but I'm not a huge fan generally). 2) More realistic computer backgrounds- for me, they just don't gel with the artwork. Compare this, to Langley's cover, or recent Slaine run. That works, this doesn't. I can see what Abnett is trying to do here, but for me, it doesn't work. If someone where to ask me, I'd think the first of the comeback series (Flint) was by one scriptdroid, and this was by another. It's going downhill for me, and needs to be picked up quickly, before it deteriorates into sludge.

Telguuth: When this run started, I didn't like the art, and thought the story was pish. Haward's artwork has grown on me over the past few episodes (and at least it isn't Siku!) And the stories, whilst still feeling like throw away filler material, are getting better. I still agree that all the long character names don't do this series any favours. I have actually grown more and more interested in the Telguuth environment, as the series has progressed. What this series really needs for me, is a longer storyline, that ties together, with some characters (with short names) that we can get to learn about and like. I honestly think doing this would make the series more interesting, and less like the throw away filler that it currently is.

Atavar: Still enjoying this. Still think the artwork is great (again, I can see the problems that people might have with the "greyness" of the colouring. This episode started of confussing me slightly (having just cleared everything up) but I think it's heading in an enjoyable direction. Part of me wishes that Abnett had adapted this script for the current VC's series instead. Oh, and Decider Jad, is still my choice for best villain of the year (so far).

Overall: Still enjoying the progs creatly, although this one wasn't as good as last week, having been let down by VCs.

Yeay, Once again the postie delivers an early Prog. That's 3 in a row- arriving on a Monday in Denmark!

Haven't read it yet, so comments will follow. But just for a starter, I want to mention the COVER.

It's CRACKING! Surely a contender for best cover of the year, and possibly even one of the best of all time.

I would love to see it as a fullsize poster, including the movie-poster tags, but without the huge logo and other bumph.

Reviews will follow!

I too taste like tea:

Cor blimey, I taste like Tea.

I am a subtle flavour, quiet and polite, gentle, almost ambient. My presence in crowds will often go unnoticed. Best not to spill me on your clothes though, I can leave a nasty stain.

(If you were not Tea you would be Vanilla.)

Help! / Re: Logo wanted.

What Wake said.

Characters that have appeared in their own story (and therefore have a logo), but who don't currently have one on their profile page, will be getting one as and when I get to the relevant story in 2000ad (along with a profile image, and 90x90 image).

Off Topic / Re: Toxic Comics - just how good a...

There were 31 issues (plus a couple of collections, a la Best of 2000ad).

I loved Toxic. I thought it had some great strips in it, and initself was a great idea. I'd also say that at the time the stories appearing in Toxic were head & shoulders above 2000ad. BUT there are many people who haven't enjoyed it as much as me.

My biggest gripes about the comic were:
1) The price (at the time 99p a week was a bit steep).
2) ? The stories were never completed.
3) The letters page was pish ( and annoying to read) There was a Flloyd Kommode chap (IIRC Matt or Nick somebody) who had a letter printed nearly every week.

Good things about it:
1) Unfinished Mutomaniac.
2) Marshal Law
3) Accident Man
4) Some great artwork, as some lovely cover artwork (17,20,25,29)by Adrian Smith (WEHT him?) and by Gary Frank (21 & 30).

Some of the other stips showed much promise, but were never completed. If you can find a complete set, at a reasonable pricem then they're definately worth a read. Although be warned, you'll wish some of them HAD been completed ( I still moan about this now).

Troutbreath said: I apologise for nothing

How can you do that then?

You're entering Star Trek like paradox's.

Still when you return from your cliffhanger break, you'll no doubt be able to resolve the paradox in a suitably crap way, that would make a Star Trek (or X-file) second part seem relatively clever!
