Well I had an absolute blast and met some great people, plus Kerrin.

It was well worth spending an hour waiting for my final train home midst the scary party animals at Coventry station.

Huge thanks to everyone for a good day out.

Here's to the next one and hopefully no engineering works on the line for once.

But first...

Bristol!

That's the nicest Octobriana I've seen.

Looks like she'd offer you a cup of tea before beating you senseless.

Kick arse costumes, well done.

Got a phonecall this morning at work from the receptionist at my Doctor's surgery saying my latest blood results had come in and could I book an appointment to see someone about them, no rush.

I then got a call moments later from a junior Doctor telling me about abnormalities in my sample and could I make an appointment with my specialist ASAP.

So after 2 hours of frantically trying to contact my specialist and then the surgery to see if they could get through to him, my specialist (who I've been seeing for the last 10 years and is a Sir) calls me.

"Don't worry about the results" he says "You're blood is always abnormal. Just a junior Doctor over-reacting. See you next year for your annual check up"

Phew.

The wave of relief that went through me was palpable to my office.

I'd rather have cautious over-reacting Docs then blaise ones, but FUCKNAR! for giving me the scariest morning of 2011.

Looks like I'm still on for the Southern Contingent get together on Sat

The two Bowen mini-busts from a few years ago were excellent.

Now I'm just awaiting the new full figure Alan Davis design statue.

Comic you read: Single issue? Some Ed McGuiness Hulk many moons ago.

Graphic Novel you read: The collected run of Jonah Hex. Brought the most recent due to Darwyn Cooke's art on one of the stories, but have become hooked because of the writing. Surprisingly good stuff.

Book you read: Shadow Something by Tad Williams. Gave up halfway through due to life being just too short and cryptic dream sequences not being my favourite plot device.

TV Show you watched: Abraham Lincoln: Saint or Sinner. Quite an eye-opener for me.

Movie you watched: Animal Kingdom. Grim.

Game you played: TF2 every lunchtime for an hour.

Album you played: The Bends by Radiohead. Needs a listen every now-and-then.

Have found a space at the Mercure.

Wasn't as cheap as I'd like, but I'm glad it's done and dusted.

So Bristol it is then.

With the cool people.

Though there must be some cons for the latter half of the year?

Octocon - travelling across land to a con is fine, across water....nah.

Apparently there are tickets available for Bristol (truly thought it had sold out), though chances of getting a room at the venue are non-existent.

Anyone else going and staying nearby for a reasonable rate?

Events / No Bics 2011

Apparently no BICS this year due to venue problems.

This seriously throws a spanner in my convention going as I fear I'm far too late for the Bristol and London expos which i choose to ignore knowing i had the delights of BICS ahead.

Any other gatherings of note I can use as a surrogate?

First person to post a picture of Tharg and Mongrol making sweet thrillpowered LURVE is the real winner in all this.

If I continue with the lifestyle I have: Heart attack, and soon.

If I change and live healthy: Heart attack, and sooner.

Strangely I'm only a few years shy of living longer than my father and that's starting to be a freaky proposition.
