Not sure about 'Grebo' or 'Greebo', it never really stuck, did it? I wasn't actually hugely into the whole Carter / PWEI  / RATM thing, but looking back the whole scene was unavoidable and great fun anyway. Davidandmary who were at the Neds gig in Dublin will no doubt have similar hazy memories of Fibber Magees as I have.

Anyone remember about 10 years ago when people wore shorts or combats, colouredy boots, and t-shirts? Hair was generally in dreads, and / or shaved except for the fringe, or in a 'half-head' style, or that old ponytail-on-the-top, shaved-round-the-sides-and-back look.  Preferred music was Carter USM, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Rage against the Machine and Pop Will Eat Itself. (tenuous comics link coming up...) Tank Girl was a role model. Everyone used to get pissed on cider and jump round noisy dancefloors in a violent way.
Anyway, did this whole thingy ever have a name? It was absolutely huge at the time, but disappeared without leaving a name for the 'revival' culture. I think I hung up (well, lost, anyway)  my tank girl t-shirt in about 1995.
Yours nostalgically,
Jayzus

A customer I spoke to whilst working for an insurance company's billing section:
Perfecto Mendoza.
He also spoke with the required Latino-American accent : 'Eyyy! Deed you noteece my name, man?'

Not sure; i found the site by following one of Mr Dribble's links. It's been stuck in my head for about four days though.

About eight or nine years ago, er, getting wrecked was the thing. Now, it's nice weather, socialising, the outdoors, travel, surfing (even though I've only tried it once), walking, running, and OCCASIONALLY getting wrecked (but stopping short of the puking and/or panic attack stage).

About every second or third weekday the Irish Times (the only half-decent Irish paper, and it's still pretty poor). Weekends the Observer, Guardian or Independent, because they have lots of pull-out bits to read when you're hungover. The Sun and Mirror when I find them on the bus or at work. (Why is Littlejohn on Sky News? The man's a buffoon.)

'Any hardcore grammatical types about? '
As a part-time English teacher, I can tell you that the plural of 'series' is 'a serie'.
Oh no, wait, that's not right...

Here's mine, called 'A Note to Hitler':

Mein Fuhrer:
Subject is alive, but still catatonic. My information is scarce regarding the origin of this serum, and this strong Aryan soldier's death would be unfortunate. However, the change from my regular work is appreciated, and the risk is worth taking if Project Masterman proves successful.
Dr J. Mengele

Not sure what your first paragraph means - how can you account for ALL personally UFOs? Like I said though, I haven't claimed to have sighted an alien spacecraft, and am skeptical enough to say that it was probably something that could be easily explained, though not by me.

As for your second paragraph, well, most scientific evidence (according to one skimming-through-popular-science book I read, anyway) suggests that humans ARE the only intelligent life-form in the universe. So you're right, until someone can prove otherwise.

And seriously - what DOES a weather balloon look like?

I saw a UFO once. It was a (altogether now...) silver cigar-shaped object (though it kills me to describe it as such, that's what it was) which my friend pointed out to me through the window of our college canteen years ago. When I started to tell people what we saw, he denied it completely to save face, the dirty bastard, so I had to keep that one to myself.
Notice, skeptics, how I have not mentioned aliens or spacecraft - it was a UFO, as in it was an object that flew, and I didn't know what the feck it was. What do weather balloons look like anyway?

Freud wrote that 'every dream is an unfulfilled wish'.
Now, I don't know about you, but being chased with a chainsaw and not being able to run away properly hasn't really been a life-long ambition of mine.

'as well as having mouthfuls of chewing gum that I can't get rid of. '

I've had that one a few times too. Mind you, i was working in a bronze foundry at the time, and had a permanent congested throat, partly thanks to the manager's 'ah, asbestos just gets a bad press' attitude. I've had the loose teeth one a good few times, and recently, when I was very run-down and didn't feel the best, dreamed I had an artificial leg. Sometimes, psychanalysis is just not really necessary.

'The cessation of the iconic 'Dredd Spread' was a major contributing factor in the decline of sales during the 1990s. Incontrovertible fact!'

Much as this boosts the credibility of my campaign, I also think things like The Grudgefather, that Inspector Raam thing and Ennis / Millar on every Dredd played a part too.
As for thought balloons, I never liked them either. They don't really work in serious strips.
