There's been a successful kickstarter this year for a collection of Bogey Man strips including a new one by JW and Ron Smith.

Robin Smith surely? Either way up I'll be a happy squaxx.

Thanks, guys.  I won't be back on the road till the tax disc arrives but it's better than knowing my bike is rotting in limbo and that a court case is approaching into the bargain.

I'm more like Sleez 'n' Ryder than Spikes Harvey Rotten - fairly forgettable, shoddily painted and conceived by a Guinness-drinking Irishman.

Fuck, wrong thread. That was for the LIFE is fantastic one.  Mods?

Well, I wouldn't say drokkin fantastic, but this is the first day I've had this week where I wasn't riddled with anxiety as a result of my own daft actions.

See, this day last week I was pulled over for a broken motorbike tail light that I didn't know I had. The old bill very quickly saw on their smartphones, no less,  that i wasn't taxed either and quite properly seized my bike and demanded that I show my licence in a Garda Station within ten days.

I got home to realise my licence was missing and there was no way I could replace it before the deadline. So I ordered a new one anyway and spent a week fretting as I opened an empty postbox day after day. Monday would have been that deadline but it's a bank holiday, meaning no post, meaning the ship has already sailed.

Today a mate very kindly offered to tow my bike out of the compound. While he did so, the people who worked there called the garda who had stopped me. I asked to speak to him - he was very friendly and didn't hesitate to extend my deadline.

So I'm not going to court after all and I have my lawmaster back and all is good in my canalside cabin (Apart from the massive fees involved and the fines I will soon have to pay, but that's another story.)

Ah feck. He was great. I kind of think of him as having died years ago, Hector being the only character I've seen him play.

Remember when we were kids and we thought it would be cool to have robots to chat to?  Well it's not.  Reported.

Quote from: IndigoPrime on 11 July, 2023, 11:20:51 AMTL;DR is we shouldn't be complacent about hard-won rights, because they're pretty easy to strip away.

See also Rishi Sunak wanting to roll back any advances made in tackling climate change / pollution.

I was surprised to hear an interview yesterday (on the News Agents podcast) with an SNP member who was pretty much on the same page as Sunak regarding the gas and oil drilling.  On the one hand, the oil and gas is in Scottish waters and would of course hugely help the country if it was to become independent.  On the other hand, helping to render huge tracts of the world uninhabitable is a bit of a downside.

Quote from: IndigoPrime on 29 July, 2023, 01:30:49 PMI just got through White Christmas, which is a very special kind of dystopian hell. Easter eggs linking the episode to others, to drive wonks mad over the years, and quite the line in various levels of torture. But also: this isn't the first time even by this point we've had a woman be unfaithful and it send a toxic man off the deep end. Hmm.

Well, I've learned a new word today.

I really should read this thread more often.  I always need telly recommendations and never think to ask you other Squaxx, who definitely know their shit.

Really enjoying this one, thanks, Eamonn. I'm only halfway through but it's made me remember how brilliant Al Ewing was on Dredd - I still say he wrote two of the best Dredd one-offs of all time (The Americans and that choose your own adventure one).

Remember how Tharg paid John Wagner extra to come back and write Dredd again? I'd be more than happy if he did the same with Al.  (Tharg paying Al, that is, not John Wagner writing Al.)

Sorry, probably should have let that one go.  Like Sharky, I believe that all American governments are bad, but I think far-right ones and their enablers are on the terrible end of bad and the mention of Breitbart got my hackles up.

Breitbart's former chairman, Steve 'Wear Your Accusations of Racism as a Badge of Honor' Bannon, was handed the job of chief strategist and advisor in the White House thanks to his success in whipping up the enthusiasm of the far right.

They have both a huge rightwing agenda and a huge voice but still, like Trump and Bannon, love to play the victims.

Feckinell, I was 8 years old when I was reading Scream!  No wonder my mother banned it.
