I used to think the word was 'rhythmth'. Now that would be an impressive consonant clusterfuck.

I just realised this weekend I don't really enjoy being drunk much any more.
Wiping out your memory for one night; and doing the same to your energy and money for the next day - fuck that. It's cut-down time for the foreseeable future.

I remember watching Mad Max 2 and Robocop between the ages of 10 and 13. Violence, nudity and even rape - they neither disturbed me or turned me into a violent rapist.

QuoteMaybe if you couldn't see what folks have done for you it'd be different but it seems clear to me you care and appreciate them, you'd just like to strike your own path.

Which, it seems to me, is an extremely mature viewpoint for a guy of 17.

Yes well thats another thing, im incredibly grateful for all the years my parents have supported me and the sacrifices they have no doubt made, as well as the many other people who are much worse off than me and have to do all they can just to survive, so I cant help but feel im a selfish bastard for just wanting to do what I want.

Please tell your parents that. You're lucky, as a teenager, to realise just how much your folks have done for you.  Wish I'd been so considerate. It took me till I was 33 to tell my folks how much I appreciated them.

And Robin, sorry i missed your post, but happy birthday!

My favourite programme ever:

A few other classic Robins thrown in for good measure, for a readership blissfully unaware of Jason Connery, Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe.

Quotewe had a weekend in Glasgow and visited the Kelvingrove Gallery, the botanic gardens, the Necropolis and St. Mungo's Museum of Religious Life.

I'd save that particular one for the non-scary birthdays.

Anyway I'm told that 45-55 are the happiest years of a man's life, after all the midlife angst is out of the way. So they say anyway. I'm 21*.

*Am I fuck.

Cheers all for the advice. I think I just needed to have someone else say balls to the train tickets as you are still up and get the whole weekend thrown in  :D

Yeah, if it's in the terms and conditions there's probably not a whole lot you can do, outside of a letter of complaint threatening to write to the papers. Not that that will help much, but there you go. Fuck it, The Man wins again, nothing new there - forget about it and have a great weekend.

QuoteBut on Sunday Night I will be getting drunk alone in my room

i'm a bit drunk myself right now, but i hope you're joking - dude, go out and meet people if you're going to get hammered. or stop drinking. I was only thinking today how many pisshead friends i have. Maybe it's an Irish thing, but it's a fairly high percentage - they tend to drink alone at home and deny there is a problem.

Jesus wept. I didn't know he looked like that. scratch that last post, no good can come of listening to a man gripped by that monstrosity. In any case, he's dead, so you'll be listening to the words of a corpse

Or alternatively, you could resist this kind of encouragement to dabble in the occult!

Dammit, Usher, his soul was almost in my grasp!

You could learn a language too - Michel Thomas (Tomas?)'s stuff is ace - makes language learning piss-easy and you don't need to do any writing or study.
