I just realised this weekend I don't really enjoy being drunk much any more.
Wiping out your memory for one night; and doing the same to your energy and money for the next day - fuck that. It's cut-down time for the foreseeable future.

Maybe if you couldn't see what folks have done for you it'd be different but it seems clear to me you care and appreciate them, you'd just like to strike your own path.

Yes well thats another thing, im incredibly grateful for all the years my parents have supported me and the sacrifices they have no doubt made, as well as the many other people who are much worse off than me and have to do all they can just to survive, so I cant help but feel im a selfish bastard for just wanting to do what I want.

Please tell your parents that. You're lucky, as a teenager, to realise just how much your folks have done for you.  Wish I'd been so considerate. It took me till I was 33 to tell my folks how much I appreciated them.

we had a weekend in Glasgow and visited the Kelvingrove Gallery, the botanic gardens, the Necropolis and St. Mungo's Museum of Religious Life.

I'd save that particular one for the non-scary birthdays.

Anyway I'm told that 45-55 are the happiest years of a man's life, after all the midlife angst is out of the way. So they say anyway. I'm 21*.

Yeah, if it's in the terms and conditions there's probably not a whole lot you can do, outside of a letter of complaint threatening to write to the papers. Not that that will help much, but there you go. Fuck it, The Man wins again, nothing new there - forget about it and have a great weekend.

i'm a bit drunk myself right now, but i hope you're joking - dude, go out and meet people if you're going to get hammered. or stop drinking. I was only thinking today how many pisshead friends i have. Maybe it's an Irish thing, but it's a fairly high percentage - they tend to drink alone at home and deny there is a problem.
