I'll just put to one side the idea that Dublin and Belfast are interchangeable in your mind - let's call that unusual and move on.

I thought they are both in the Emerald Isle. Maybe I was wrong...

Not being a mind-reader, I can never tell whether you're taking the piss. Was it London or Glasgow? One of those. Interchangeable. Whatever. Sunni or Shia? Whatever. Black, white - what's the difference? Etc.

This is why the Brexit referendum was such a bad idea. How many of the voters even knew what country they were in while voting? Or on what continent? Planet?

Okay, I wasn't sure which one was of the two cities. Big deal. It was in Ireland, let's leave it at that. I definitely wasn't planning this to turn into a The Troubles debate.

Well, they are, but they're in two different countries.

I know that, I just thought my mind-slipping wasn't that pertinent for the anti-vaxx protesters news.

Nice to see that awareness of one of the more thorny and intractable issues of British politics is so widespread!  ;-)  On the plus side it does show one of the benefits of the Good Friday Agreement.  After all we don't have so many bombings these days.  Not to say that everything is rosy in the Northern part of the Emerald Isle.

I'd like some Clothworthy beer.

American Gangster

Sir Ridley's epic crime drama was unexpectedly long (almost 3 hours). Not how I remember it from my past viewing (which was basically at the time of the release, in 2007,  but it could be my shaky memory). I have to say, it's a stellar-crafted piece, camerawork and the editing are top-notch, and performances of the Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe are on the mark; however, the biggest flaw is its total lack of originality. Take The Godfather, French Connection, and Scarface, and I guarantee the Frankenstein monster produced out of these three films would be American Gangster. In addition, the film takes damn long to set up, and I found Russell's arc better appealing and colourful than Denzel's. And in a way, the film paints Denzel's bloke in sympathetic virtues when the real one was a total piece of shit. But that's only me.

Was watching some video from Dublin (or was it Belfast?), either way, it was in Ireland, a massive gathering of anti-vaxx, anti-lockdown crowd. Nothing unusual these days, but was it necessary to call officials in charge and coppers effin stasis and commie scum? I suggest them to travel to N. Korea or China and see communism first hand (not that I ever did it, though), but the point is there.

Tomb Raider 3

...The Adventures of Lara Croft, as is the full title. It must be tying up loose ends. Tomb Raider was the last game I rabidly played on my PS1 before it went bust. And I was at the very ending. I remember how the image of man (the final boss) transformed into a giant spider creeped me out to the bone. Either way, I've done it now, shamelessly have to admit with the help of the online walkthrough. But the game really had occupied me for weeks. Even with blowing a fuse countless times, partly thanks to unforgiving gameplay, where one step is a step for reloading the save, coupled with muddy graphics the nature of the gameplay, TR3 is a bloody strenuous experience. Strictly narrowed to keyboard wasn't a big deal, except the way these controls work (did I mention that 2013 reboot finally got the controls right for Tomb Raider?). Exotic locales are what primarily drew me to Tomb Raider, India, South Pacific, Nevada desert and, Antarctica are all ripe stuff, but paradoxically, London imho has the most engaging scenery.
Now, off to The Last Revelations.

Just to be clear, when I advocate for the personal responsibility of the actor I am not calling for prosecution or punishment but for the exploration of the idea that personal responsibility transcends legal requirements.

Can you imagine the remake of Dambusters with a chuffing great big barrel of foam?

Well, the closest we got is Alan Parker's Bugsy Malone. SPLURG!!

In the Exorcist when filming the scene were the possessed Regan slaps her mum Chris McNeil throwing her on to a table the man pulling the rope to make Ellen Burstyn crash onto it pulled too hard causing her permanent back problems

That was on Friedkin, because he was a fricking maniac who told the stunt guy to pull the rope as hard as he could without telling the actor. He was and is a piece of shit in the Kubrick mould of abusing women.

Friedkin was really tough bastard in those days, something he acknowledged to. But in those days, brazen behavior by director wasn't something new. And I say that with knowledge that older directors were exceptionally brutal, Fritz Lang, Otto Preminger, David Lean and especially John Ford. In Kubrick's defense, he treated anyone equally miserably (except Malcolm McDowell). I  suppose it was the role you have to be friendly with your actor. But all these people were hard on their actors. The film set shouldn't be dangerous place, the only dangerous subject would be your director.

I see Dwayne Johnson advocates for the use of airsoft guns lmao. Take it away, big guy.

Perhaps from here on all films involving firearms should use Nerf guns?  That would have made Saving Private Ryan a much more interesting film, no?

only if it applies to cannons as well.

The gun that Alec tragically used is the same one used for shooting practice several hours ago (crews call it plimping, me thinks), for shooting beer cans in the spare time. Someone messed up when loading the weapon. Prop fellas, the armourer...whoever it is, wields the most responsibility. If you are not up to your job, get the fuck out. Then again, this was maybe a disaster waiting to hapšen, since they hired non union local crew (after firing the unioners).

Film & TV / Re: Is Sigourney Weaver Back For More Aliens?

I am not keen on continuing Alien lore, after dreadful Prometheus and even more dreadful Covenant. The former film explained nothing succintly about Alien origins and i didn't buy the idea it being a wmd.
I also tried to get in a few AvP comics, but quickly lost interest when they gave name to the Predator species, among other things.

I don't have any particular insight, but I believe a British software company released an Aliens Vs Predator game in 1994 which really helped them make their mark.  Whatever happened to that company? ;)

They made disappointing 2010 reboot.
