I think I realise that a lot of what I like about Henry Flints art is the fact that he mimics the 'greats' art on each story he does - his Dredd is very Ezquerra (look at the tiny 'slit' mouths they both draw for Dredd) & his VC's was very Cam Kennedy in style.
I think he said much the same himself in that ximoc interview.
Thats not to say he's not a brilliant artist in his own right of course, he & Jock are the bizzo.

I know when Alan Barnes was initially thinking of running the strip he said in a mail to me that (in discussion with John Wagner) he was thinking of not running some of the middle 'filler' issues. In the end he obviously  went with runnning the whole lot, a decision I personally applaud.

Thanks Trouty, I was excited but dead nervous about having my intro published - I've never had anything printed before so it was a big deal for me. Anyway I just hope the DM reprints are a  success otherwise I'll look a right twat (well more than usual).
Gordon is right there was  lot of utter tripe published in Battle, but there were a few real gems too.
My only (minor) quibble with the reprint so far is that the art doesn't look so good in places. I guess its difficult having to scan from the actual comic rather than original art, plus making it slightly smaller, but you do lose some of the finer details which can become just a dark blur. Still its wonderful to see it republished after all these years.
I can't remember which insults were omitted in the Meg this issue, but mostly the phrases were along the lines of 'slitty eyed rice-eaters' etc.

I think there's the same chance it was a saddo uber-goth whacking off to the Requiem 'pale undead nazi' art as it was some maladjusted geezer flogging himself to the cheesy T&A.

Liked it tho'.

Dredd - good story from Gordo, shame about the art which I wasnt keen on at all.

Juliet November - sorry thought this was pants but maybe it wil get better?

Devlin - top stuff, lovely art. Shame its only 5 pages long!

Family - enjoying this one very much.

Black Siddha - seems like usual Millsy fare with an Eastern twist. Love the art but wasnt impressed with the 3 pages of 'talking panels'. Plenty of potential anyway.

Slaine - first time I've read this. Seems to have a hell of a lot going on, so thatits difficult to keep up with who's who (well it is for me)...

I won't comment on DM since I've pretty much said my piece on that subject!

If any of you need yet more of the great man's stuff after 'Slaine' in 2K & 'Black Siddha' in the Meg, then pick up this months 'Heavy Metal' which prints the whole of his 'Requiem' Graphic Novel in English for the first time (originally in French).
Only just bought it meself, so havent read it yet, but the art looks good & I'm pretty sure its the usual high-powered hokum.

Well I do anyway & I'm not afraid to say it.

Not forgetting 'Drake Of E-Boat Alley' in Warlord.

Man's a genius. No one drew a Mega-City fatty quite like Ron Smith.
