You can read the full horror story (save for one page that won't load) from the old 'Scream' comic over at Ghastly McNasty's website.

finally read this :-

Dredd: Yawn.I'm not sure the style of art really helps the story on this. Also knowing its not written by Wagner kind of takes the edge off, because you know nothing serious is gonna come out of it in the end, if that mekes sense.

Slaine: Excellent.

Red Seas: I'm sorry I really don't see what all the fuss is about for this. The whole thing is dull as ditchwater.

VC's: Yeh despite the low-point of the previus series, I'm enjoying this. The art is fairly functional but nontheless has a certain style.

Past Imperfect: just echoing the general praise to Art for this. Best one I've read in ages. The art (as opposed to Art) was also very nice - I'd like to see more from the same team-up.

News / "Turf Wars" & "Nemesis" Games
09 February, 2004, 04:22:49 AM
Mongoose Games have announced the following :-

"JUDGE DREDD: TURF WARS
Coming to a tabletop near you in September 2004 - the first Judge Dredd miniatures game, Turf Wars! Players each take the role of gang leaders, commanding their punks and juves to become the top dogs of the block. Care must be taken, however, as the judges are always present and one slip could send you to the iso-cubes for life. Turf Wars begins with a box set containing the main rules, card terrain and a complete gang of multi-pose plastic 30mm miniatures. Blister pack releases will feature gang specialists (such as blitzers, assassins and fatties!), as well as the dreaded Judges."

Also there seems to be some kind of Nemesis game in the pipeline, its a little difficult to se what type from the blurb...

"NEMESIS THE WARLOCK
If you know 2000AD, you know Nemesis. If you don't, this will seem to be one of the weirdest sci-fi settings of all time, as an alien resistance led by the mysterious warlock does battle in Termight against the evil machinations of Torquemada and his determined Terminators. Be Pure! Be Vigilant! Behave!

Off Topic / total skinflints guide to reading comics
04 February, 2004, 09:37:33 PM
In order to be a true comic reading skinflint, you must first appreciate that *ownership* of comics is not a worthwhile objective in and of itself. Think about it. When was the last time you read one of your comics more than once, twice at most ? I'll lay odds it was a goodly while ago (if ever). It then follows that the comics & GN's neatly bagged in boxes or filed on your shelves are (a) needlessly cluttering up your living space & (b) a complete waste of money.
Basically, you get 90% of the comic appreciation hit on the first reading. What you need is a way to read  comics without having to pay for them & have to leave them lying around the house annoying your girlfriend/spouse. So here are a few suggestions to help you save both space & cash.
(a)The Library
(1) Write down a list of the GN's you'd most like to read.
(2) Go to your local library.
(3) Give them the aforementioned list and require them to procure them for you.
(4) Wait a week or two
(5) Return to library, pick up said GN's, read them, return them.
Total cost, ?Nil.
(b)The Bookshop
A slightly more dodgy technique which takes some practice is to visit your high street borders (or equivalent).Pick up the latest 'must read' tome. Now the beauty of comics is they take a ludicrously short amount of time to actually read. So purchase (has to be done i'm afraid) a mug of their overpriced coffee (there may be cheaper alternatives), sit yerself down and consume said graphic novel in some comfort, whilst very slowly drinking your beverage. Then return the GN to the shelf where you found it.
(c)Gullible mate
Tell your mate you've heard about a really great new comic. Wait til he buys it, borrow it to read it yourself and tell him he wasted ?2.20 on a sh*t comic that took 5 minutes to read.

Too right PVS. #1384 looks like a good jumping *off* issue.
When are they gonna give up on Rouge Trooper ??? Even Gordo can't breathe life into this character its so far past its sell by date. Whats worse is he could have been writing some more Cabs instead of flogging this dead carcass of a mule.
Bec 'n Kawl. Oh dear. Durham Red. Jeez. SinDex - depends on Dabnetts mood I suppose.
All in all, lloks like the thrill suckers have struck with avengeance. Luckily i'm not a subscriber, so I'll just flick thru these issues in borders. I don't think any of these stories will be troubling the Marbles scanning archive project.

Help! / Re: Net Radio
03 February, 2004, 03:09:48 AM
BBC Radio online is excellent. You can listen to any show on any station up to a week after it was broadcast.
The new BBC Station '6 Music' is great. So strangely is Radio 2 (its a generation thing I guess). Jonathon Ross is as PVS said a great way to start the w/e (or any other time with the website 'radio on demand' capability).
Other highlights - Andy Kershaws wonderful World Music show on R3, Beginners Guide To Reggae on R2 & the current 'Carpenters' & 'Sid Vicious' (I'm listening to this right now) documentarys also on R2.

The Frank Miller Elektra 'What If' is ok, written (but not drawn) by the great man during his original run on DD.
