Off Topic / Re: Question for Irish broadband users
21 October, 2010, 11:06:37 PM
I think your stuck with it at the minuit, after two years in the wilderness of mobile broadband, I at last have a landline broadband  connection again. I went with Vodafone anf have a 40gb limit. I dont do gaming  so im not likely to reach that, although I do find myself using the rte player a bit this weather. I think wimax that imagine are slowly rolling out will give faster speeds and lager downloads but Mayo is the one place in the country they havent friggen covered yet. Can you get it from UPC? I dont know what they offer, but they might have something better.

QuoteCycling is probably quietly frowned upon because its self sufficiency
Of course it is, the rail networks are privatised in the UK arnt they? If they dont make money from them they are not going to provide you with space for your bike, no matter how eco it is.

Dennis the menace is a trade mark and copright of DC Thomson in the UK and Eire, the American versions, especially the successful one from the ninties with Walter Matthau was realeased on this side of the Atlantic as 'Denis'. The original American version was one panel jokes and eventually evolved into comics. I have a few from the sixties by Gold Key I think, and these are vastly different to the Dennis we are familiar with. The American version is very innocent, with most of Dennis trouble coming from him trying to do the right thing, or getting into scraps not of his own doing. The version we know and love is a thug as is most of the inhabitants of Beanotown, and after 70 odd years we wouldnt have it any other way.(so long as 'Dad' dosent have a slipper anymore!!) I remember reading most of the info on the Comicuk.co.uk forum a long time back, great site, if anyone has an interest in British comics its well worth checking out.

RoBusters is great fun, and will probably make a return to the prog in the near future, with the intro of HowardQ in Savage. IIRC the was a fairly sympathetic priest in Marshal Law.

These might be an option, the original case files with Bolland covers, were 4 volumes reprinting colour stuff from the annuals, there was a second series the Hardcase Papers, with coveres by american artists.

2000ad monthly/presents might be an option, the first series 1-6 has covers again by Bolland and resonably well coloured, the second series was titled monthly until 5 and then changed title to presents, up to number 13 or 14 they are handled by Skinn and Co. and  are reasonably well coloured as well.
