Nice spot Butch, certainly out of DCT's comfort zone. It will be interesting to see more.

I'm a sucker for comic history stuff, and this does relater to 2000ad bit. Its a series of six blog posts by an ex employee of Neptune, and it makes for entertaining reading, especially the bit about Pat Mills, however true.
The first instalment is here, I'm sure you will figure how to get the rest!

The VC'c was originally intended for Starlord, and had a  good amount of the story written at that stage.

Robin Smith in his interview in Meg 225 says,(as Jim suggested) 'Knowing Mickey, he would have been asked to design the characters but there wasn't money to pay for that, so he drew the first episode to get paid for the design work'

I think a lot of people think of Criris as a failed experiment, something that didn't do what it set out to do.

While it was not the success that McManus wanted it to be, it achieved most of its aims.
It presented  stories that adults could read, and not really have any previous comic reading habits.
It was republished in an American Format, too and then  collected then in TB's. It lasted 63 issues, nearly four years, for a British comic that's not bad.
Third World War gets neglected a bit, and some of it rightly so, but the first Ezquerra arc and the Hicklenton Ryan stories are superb.
New Statesmen, NAH, Troubled Souls, True Faith, Bible John, all well worth reading. I still always think of Skin as a Crisis story.
Probably one of the most important thing it did was give countless creators their start.
I always felt that Deadline were different sides of the same coin. Both were 'born' out of 2000ad, both trying to do the  more adult stories, to different grown up audiences.
Crisis was not one of the best comics, but it was a good attempt at something radically different, and had some great moments.
Egmont own most of Crisis.

Quoteif they ever went digital-only it may finally see the end of me as a 2000ad reader. It's purely personal taste, I just don't enjoy reading comics (or books or newspapers) on a screen.

Thankfully Matt,Mike and Co. are doing a great job producing and promoting tooth(a term gone out of fashion?) that digital only is not on the horizon.

I have tried Digital comics, but its just not the same. For me its kinda like the difference between watching a film on a small screen like a tablet or laptop, or in the cinema, its a different experience. I do put some of the blame down to perhaps the wrong software, maybe wrong device and general ludditeness.
I have dabbled a bit, Aces Weekly Vol 1 is something I have finally gotten round to reading, a great comic, and such a pity there is not a POD option, although I know some of the stories would not be suitable for printing. Paddy Browns Cuchullain comics I read too, but that's a one pager, and I buy the compilations after.
The digital option is a great thing though, its handy to store and read wherever. My oldest girl is reading Adventure Time on her tablet, loves it, but wants to buy the collections the next time we are in Galway.

Having just watched it and thats the only mention I think was in it Steve/Hawk. Enjoyable film, it had a bit of the 'I knew the end, just not how it played out' but well played out!
