Curse you Buttonman!

My homespun country bumpkin deceptions are no match for your big city wiles and icy forensic mind.

Having just spent the last two hours up to my elbows in keech clearing a blocked drain and getting eaten by midges, I come in to find I've been collared.

It's a fair cop gov, I am D.Reay but society's to blame.

As for Steve 'Devilishly handsome, charming, witty, debonair, modest, the toast of the dizzying Caithness society scene' Frame, let us just say my graphic novel collection is coming along nicely.

"What's your real name Dounreay?"

After all the...err...interesting things you said about me in your (it has to be grudgingly admitted) excellent letters review column, now you want names and verification!

Ach, you're a hard man to please.

"I got a Judge Fire Heroclix"

So did I, and then another. And another. And another. And guess what? Yep, another.

Was there a fire sale of these wee things and Tharg's trying to shift them or what?

Ungrateful old curmugeon that I am, I'd have liked something different please.

There, that's my card marked for all time.

Anybody want to give a good home to three Judge Fires, a Torquemada and a Judge Fear?

Since they've been left abandoned down the side of the sofa these poor wee mass murdering law breakers have been in need of some TLC.

Available for the unbeatable price of nothing.  If you want em, post it here, first come first served.

Ach, the wiley old alien is obviously saving them up for the soon-to-be-legendary 'Input Only Issue'.

Yes, 20 thrill packed pages of readers letters and Tharg's witty retorts and asides, with no distracting  comic strips in the way.

The cover promises to be Pulitzer winning material.

Blessing - May you live so long the hairs on your arse sweep the ground behind you.

Curse - May you testicles atrophy and your children have several legs.

Better curse (Courtesy of cartoonist Johnny Hart's BC strip)- May your car horn become stuck on during your first visit to a massage parlour.

I've been grey for years - wouldn't have it any other way.

Altogether now! Sing if you're glad to be gray! SING IF YOU'RE HAPPY THAT WAY!

Surely its old Happy Shrapnel? Maybe now we'll find out what C -Day was and how he survived it.

And what a blinder of an opening episode that was in Prog 2007. Clint Langleys art was to die for. Hopefully this will see a return to form for the ABCs after the decidedly dodgy Shadow Warriors thing.

Mind you, it's not just Thurso. Caithness name checks abound in the Galaxy's Greatest and the Megazine. Well, OK, Dounreay has popped up at least twice.

" I hate water colours though. Such annoying sons of bitches."

Very true, you can't rub em out or correct mistakes easily. They've got a life of their own on the paper and you never end up with the picture you started out working on.

On the plus side you can get some amazing effects without too much effort.

Probably not the best medium to start doing comic art in as detail work is bloody difficult unless you're a dab hand with them or you like to paint BIG.

What is the best medium to start with for comic art (assuming you don't use electrons). The humble pencil? Liner pens?

Anybody got any thoughts as I could use the advice!

Film & TV / Re: Spam up!

"How can you not have seen that? It's everywhere"

Not up here in the far north it isn't. Granted I've been on my holidays and haven't seen a huge amount of telly in the past two weeks.

We're possibly not getting it here in the Heilan's because:

a: we're not daft enough to buy and eat this stuff no matter how much you persuade us.

b: we don't need any encouraging to eat this stuff.

I like to think the answer is (a) but the deep fried battered haggis in the local Co-op says no.

Back on topic, that BurgerKing/Superman advert takes some beating. Is it crap? Is it genius?

I've yet to see this ad but it sounds like it should be up there with the Shake and Vac ad.

You've got to admire ad men that have to dream up copy to sell absolutely mundane stuff like this.

My personal fav was the 'Proper British' ad where the bloke throws down his croissant and nicks off to the caff for a fry up. Everybody in the caff is exactly like him. I never got tired of watching that ad.
