aside from all that malarkie.
i was listening to some chat from an extreem Christian collegue recently & he was off on the 'end of days' one. well he recons that theres these fundamentalist types that have interpreted aspects of revelations very literally, he's convinced that these types are controlling the white house & the basic agenda is to fufill this crazy biblical stuff, i.e. they want armagedon & are deliberately setting in motion crazy arsed shit to bring it about.

he had proper words for the different forms of fundamentalist nut-jobs n everything.

but my brain started humming the psycho theme tune long before those word sunk in.

scary shit.

but another thing thats mad is how some stuff just goes ahead without a fuss, i mean did we hear on the news a decade ago that the technology to put tracking devices in our shampoo was getting developed ?
was it on tomorrows world ?
it was probably on some conspiracy theory web sites which we would have all scoffed at & laughed at, then its reality & we all shrugg, oh yeah i heard about that...

i personally gave up being paranoid years ago, Tho i was chuffed to see in a documentary about the bugging & phone tapping that went on in the eighties , that yes we were right, our student phone was tapped. rads that we were.

see i figure police/ social work/ legal system are incompetent underfunded useless eejits bumbling along against a wall of petty scumminess.

I would only need to get paranoid about the real bad guys if i was developing an alternative to the petrol car, or coke that tastes better than coke, or making a fuss about war & munitions or... oh i dunno.
theyre all mad.

do you think we ingest these tiny transmitters & they keep beeping away on our corpses for years ?

you see, i though the fact that nano transmitters are now in everyday products was a pretty mad future shock mega-city type concept..

i expect this thread to descend into bolloxs within the  (first) second post.

i was helping mini-bou with homework where shes preparing a speech explaining why all the popular bratz are scum-bags proping up global consumerism & mega-corps & exploiting the whole universe with their orange make-up & stupid trainers.

i was SHOCKED with the extend of scumminess i found;

a)everyday household products that we all use are still experimented on animals.
b) All the big mega-corps who make everything, are heavily funding pres' Bush
c) theres a huge muslim campaign to boycott all these companies, which is fine & dandy, except theres a lotta anti-semetic conspiracy language on these web-sites. "its all run by Jews " etc
d) Tescos etc etc, are spying on us all thru RFID mini nano sized transmitters in their products, some sites are saying that shampoos & stuff have had spy-stuff in it for years.. WTF !  theyre all nuts !

i mean... surely theres better ways to use technology & resources? pay me 3p & I'll tell them exactly what i buy , where & why.

i'd put a link up but theres too many too choose from.
i think i'll stay living in a cave of ignorance.

i was going to be a smart arse & provide a caption in russian,

but i'm not smart & havent really got past
" Doubray yhay , minyah misha ooomletta parjoust "

now if only i knew the word for bacon instead of omlette, and it might have passed for humour in these parts.

anyway photos of russian boys always brighten my day. its a fetish you know.

john d barrow, the artful universe. covers lots of science/ psychology/ art/ the senses/ perceptions & sociology stuff. heavy going.

my olde guru from student days wrote a nice fat book "Keltic art & Faerie Tales, by Kaledon Naddair "  sort of unpicked some basic celtic myths & archetypes. some great stuff on archetypes etc & some spurrious cack ogham bollocks channelled by the wildmen, certainly worth grabbing from second hand bookshop nutter section.

geez a synopsis bart ... its one of those books that comes up a lot.

is it in the psychology / folklore section ?  or am i way off as usual ?

i was digging up lots of folklore for a recent project, leads me to want to track down some book by some feminist type who goes right into the jungian symbology of common tales, you know all red rose / white rose stuff.

i found some right wierd siberian / mongolian tales with nasty shamans & magical birch bark paintings, awesome.

my brats & me agree, its all so wrong on so many levels.

i would suggest an overhaul of the education system, NHS, review the causes of poverty, the peer values of society & why familys are broken dysfunctional & disempowered to deal with their own children.

shoving them on tele, is a really really stupid thing to do.

Books & Comics / Re: Angelfire
01 March, 2006, 11:09:46 PM
yeah it certainly is, i love the art.

i was of course interested cos Torridon is just up the road from me, but the torridon in the book is just a generic type place, the history doesnt fit either, wrong religion... the real torridon is one of the countrys most stunning places; long deep loch dominated by Huge sheer mountain. I had a job recently at the Torridon country house Hotel, a creaky large building with turret & spire, it was a howling gale... and yes i thought of angelfire.

i would reckon simons influences come from fine art world as well as comics.

i love painterly stuff as well as linear, simple and detailed, suppose the stuff that leaves me coldest is either anatomically crap, & overly computerised.

ive got a black siddah page right here right now, & its gorgeous, one that most non-comics-intitiated comment upon favorably.

can't say i remember a huge difference in simons style in past, daresay i'd be surprised if i looked back, but i remember theres been some breathtakingly brilliant scenes.
