General / It's not so bad here really
26 July, 2003, 03:07:18 AM
There have been several messages posted here recently that suggest that this board is seen as being in some way unfriendly. This suprises me. Sure there are plenty of folk here who express themselves forthrightly, and there may even be a certain paranoia to newcomers due to a certain troll who shall not be named. And OK, sometimes we all throw a huge hissy fit and hardly speak for days. But frankly, even a cursory trawl of the net shows we've got nothing on some boards.

Now play nicely, kids!

If the Scottish Daily Mail is anything like the English one, he probably wants you to tell him how disgusting it is that these foreigners are coming over here, we should bring back hanging, and everything's the fault of the BBC.

It's not stealing from Tharg. presumably TMO flogs his progs to Smiths with a whopping trade discount, so as he's already got his cash, the 20p you're saving by their till error is 20p less for WH Smith to spend on laser guns on the moon or eating babies or whatever they spend their ill-gotten capitalist gains on.

"How about calling him/her after the first character you see when you open your new prog?"

If you go down this road, just make sure you look at the right hand side of the prog as you open it. Then you've got a reasonable chance of having a sprog called Jo(e), rather than Tharg.

Congratulations, hope it all goes well.

General / Re: Kurt Russel for Dredd???.........

And that version of the Saint he was in was really, really bad, bad on a Batman and Robin level. And that's very bad indeed.

Did I mention it was a bad film?

yeah, but he shouldn't be too muscular. The uniform is so bulky that if Dredd's too musclebound he just looks like a stupid meatball. the best renditions of him bear this in mind - if you look at McMahon's drawings, for instance, Dredd is actually quite skinny - which ties in with the Eastwood look.

The other thing is that the uniform has become so stylised over the years that what looks good in the comic wouldn't necessarily translate all that well to 3-D. I'm not saying the uniform should be completely reinvented, but maybe it would work better in a live action setting if it were taken back closer to Esquerra's original design?

Help! / where is Troutman band?
19 July, 2003, 05:28:18 AM
If anyone's got King Troutman's number, could you get him to call me? Bou's down his way tomorrow morning but she's forgotten his mobile number.

Even I'm not stupid enough to leave my phone number on a message board, but I can be emailed through the site, or Art and Wils have my mobile number.

ta,
Pete

Although, as my brother found out nearly to the cost of his life once (I'm not exaggerating)you should never, NEVER talk about football in a Glasgow pub.

I have an urge to launch into a rant against that idiot on the letters page this week, but then again why should I dignify such ignorance and bigotry with a reponse?

apart from that, this prog rocks big time!

Although I agree Johnny Alpha needs more hair. With his current haircut he reminds me disturbingly of Simon Cowell.
