ouch.

hmmmm...

"Dead" Pixies (of course)
"The Ocean Doesn't want me today" Tom Waits
"Scene with cranes" Sibelius
"Zadok the priest" Handel
"Sally MacLennane" the Pogues
"Tomorrow never knows" the Beatles

..to name but a few at random.

If I was going down the same route as Oddboy, making everyone stand an all, I'd choose Morton Feldman's 2nd String Quartet, cos it lasts 5 hours. heh-heh.

How about a strip called "MAT PILLS - FANFIC AVENGER" in which our hero cruises round in his Perambulatormobile hurling plaything-shaped missiles at all who dare write tales of celtic barbarians, 7 robots to tame a planet, killer dinosaurs, etc etc.

BTW, when are they going to reprint the Nemesis photostrip?

Yes, I found Sin-Dex strangely non-shite, too. Am I just getting easy to please in my encroaching senility? Or is it more than coincidence that Sin and Dex barely featured in it?

On a similar tack, I get the impression that Gordon has decided that the best way to make Rogue Trooper interesting is to limit him to shooting and stuff, thus leaving the plot to more interesting characters. Oh, and a valiant effort to make Helm look useful :)

Past Imperfect is, I presume, building to a half-arsed Shakespearean concluion. ho-hum.

Once again, Dredd and Lobster make this prog for me. Although I'm still undecided about John Burns' art. In some ways it's o goo, in others... not.

I see Si's been reading Alan Moore's big book of unconventional page layouts again, which is nice, if a little awkard to read on a crowded tube train ;)

Overall, an enjoyable enough prog, but with shades of water treading until 1350.

On the whole, I think most things tend to be either over or under rated, very few things are estimated at their true worth.

I spent many years at school and university being taught that Beethoven's 9th symphony is a towering work of genius, one of the highlights of western civilisation. Pish. The first 30 seconds or so are great, but it's all downhill after that, IMHO. And all that singing mollox in the finale, what was he thinking of?

And connected to that, the classically trained voice is to my ears an abomination.

Oh, yeah, and Harry Potter.

you're a sick man, dxb :)

the Star Wars films. I love them to death, but I also recognise that they are in so many ways very bad films indeed.

Ringo Starr's drumming.

There's a very goos article in this month's Empire by one of the guys who writes the Onion on "coping with the Phantom Menace" which hits the nail right on the head as far as i'm concerned.

nah, Kid Congo Powers and his predecessor Bryan Gregory (who was the scary bloke you're thinking of) both played guitar. After Powers left they got a bass in.
