So, Jared, you're basically saying that we, as readers, are there to explain away the writer's mistakes, thus doing his or her job for them?

That's just sloppiness on the writer's part.

Unless I'm very much mistaken, ANDY's point is NOT that Psi Division is as much use as Doris Stokes reincarnated as piscari mammatus; what we have, as ANDY suggests, is a plot hole.

Yes, we can all rattle off theories as to why psionics were of bugger all use during 'Total War', thus missing the point that John should have, at the very least, acknowledged the existence of Psi Division, be it in some throwaway line explaining away its inability to help foil terrorist activity.

Presumably that's the point of the current tale.

That Gronk doesn't make its appearance until 'Papa Por-Ka' (Starzines 3 - 5), its poor heartsies bursting at the climax. Not sure if it's the same Gronk (who could teach Lazarus a thing or two) that later accompanies Johnny unt Wulf.

Johnny Alpha first meets Wulf Sternhammer, a Viking marauder, when he pursues the Max Bubba gang from 2170 back in time to the year 793 ('The Ragnarok Job' Progs 445 - 465).

Although Wulf is himself transported to Johnny's time, Johnny has at least one partner prior to Wulf, that being Sniffer Martinez, killed in 2173 (q.v. 'No Cure for Kansyr' Starzines 6 - 7).

During this time, Wulf is presumably fighting in the Trigon Wars (cf. 'The Killing' Progs 350 - 359)

In 2185, Wulf Sternhammer is killed by the Max Bubba gang (again, 'The Ragnarok Job'). Johnny Alpha, left for dead, wreaks vengeance but doesn't form a semi-regular partnership with Durham Red until 'Bitch' (Progs 525 - 529) and, later, Middenface McNulty in 'The Royal Affair' (Progs 532 - 536).

As for the Gronk's first appearance, I'd wait for The Watcher to impart his encyclopedic knowledge when he corrects everything I've got wrong.

I've promised a LotRathon for a couple of mates who don't own the extended editions. Ditto, Romero's Dead Trilogy as soon as I get the DiviMax version of Day.

I've no idea how this 3D computer artwork is knocked out but it's obvious, in the case of Striker, it's based on Peter Nash's style. Does anyone know if this is gonna be the case with The War of the World's comic?

For 'tie in', read 'cash in'. I am, however, no less intrigued. Should be worth a look at least.

So Spielberger is doing a movie adaptation of a TV show that was a sequel to a film that owed more to a radio broadcast than the novel it took its name from.

Despite his solo efforts usually portraying Dredd as a one-note fascist-bully boy, Alan Grant does have the ability to elevate an average story through its final scenes without resorting to the trite sentimentality that John Wagner often succumbs to.

DREDD *Zombies*: 'No, that wasn't it at all'

ANDERSON *Triad*: 'I know I did'

DREDD *John Cassavettes is Dead*: 'Would anybody care?'

And best of all:

ANDERSON *Satan*: 'Remember when I told you what you mistook to be our friendship was just part of your faulty judgement? (beat) I was wrong.'

Dredd at his most human. Did in the same number of frames what John Wagner failed to do in as many weeks during Tale of the Dead Man.

ZArgos has spoken. That is all.

So, I took George's advice about leaning on a lamppost. Never thought I'd end up being arrested for soliciting. Hell, I can't even spell 'loiyer'.

I think it's a little unfair to say that these pop stars should be working throughout the year for famine relief if they're putting their names to the Band Aid single. Many people, celebs included, have their own charities and causes to which they are committed already.

It's like when I'm collared in the street by someone asking for a monthly donation. Leaving aside my financial situation, how dare I be made to feel guilty by a complete stranger who, in all likelihood, is no more able (willing?) to donate to whatever charity I'm actively involved with.

The Truman Show. If enough critics say it's a great satirical stab at Hollywood then it must be true!

As for Wossy, he was just as arselicking of the Moz when the former Smith's frontchap appeared on Friday Night.

'So, Mowwissey, why are you a vegetawian?'

'Because meat has to be cooked for it taste nice.'

Eh? Nevermind, next question!
