I tried that myself and lasted about 1 week but if everyone was honest they would say that they enjoyed reading the comments and posting comments regardless of them being positive or negative.I find having a sense of humor helps as well and i might as well admit that when i saw the ambulance i laughed.I was lying in the bath thinking about it and i started laughing and i dont mean in a snidey taking the piss kind of way but the comments about it looking like an ice cream van didnt help.

Great. Not only do I get lambasted because I don't particularly intend to go see a movie, despite really liking the comic (a bit like I'm not particularly fussed about seeing most Stephen King adaptations despite King being my favourite writer and me being somewhat obsessive about his work) but now IF I DO, as soon as that icecreambulance appears on screen, I am guaranteed to suddenly get a sharp mental image-spike of Peter Wolf in the bath!

As for not going to the cinema to see it. I can't understand someone who purports to be a fan and presumably reads the comic would not want to see it on the big screen.

"Purports"? "Presumably"? I've read it since prog one. Every week.

I'm not overly fussed about films. I prefer comics and books. I like some films- mostly horror- and if Dredd was an adaptation of Necropolis or Judgement Day, or even Cry of the Werewolf, I'd probably be a lot more excited. But Dredd, to me, is not a Die Hard/ Under Seige thing. Everything I love about the strip seems to have been purposefully removed from this adaptation, leaving behind something stripped down, "gritty", "realistic" and yes, "aimed at the wider audience" who probably like that sort of thing (Do they? I don't know). I'm not that "wider audience" at all. It just all looks very boring. Like the strip was when it all went awry in the nineties (and as a friend of mine has said) "Dredd just went after serial killers all the time".

Heh- no, Radiator sir, it's absolutely fine. I've probably bought too many comcis this week as it is (Grandville Mon Amour, Spider-Man: Fever and Walking Dead vol 13). Not a problem!

Everyone is going to give it a chance as they will ALL pay to watch it on the opening night or very soon after and i cant imagine anyone who is a fan not going to see it even if they are a bit non-plussed about what they have seen so far even if it is out of context or whatever.

Not being deliberately contrary Peter- but I WON'T be going to see Dredd at the cinema. Firstly, I only go to the cinema on very special occassions, to see things that I really want to see (or if my wife kicks me out for the evening so she can do girlie stuff), or when I go with my service users. Since my guys are now independent and can go on their own, that particular avenue is no longer there.

The Dredd movie (from the script and the pics we've seen) is a straightforward action flick. I don't go in for action movies, in general, and certainly never pay to see them. So I'll wait for DVD rental, or when I can buy it very cheaply.

EDIT: If Dredd was a 'PG' or a '12A', I'd take my kids to see it. As it is- probably a '15'- it'll pass me by.

He's only talking because I'm using him like a glove puppet, having wooped his ass outside.

But that's okay, if Radiator really wants them- they were the two I was mainly after... but I am the bigger man. As I just proved by goin cataclysmic on yo ass.

Welcome to the board / Re: Hello

Welcome to the 'friendliest board on the web' (we may be a bit knickertwisty at the moment over some photos of cars, but it doesnt stop the inherent truth in that).
I dont know how how you'd find the time, with five kids, but run out and buy the prog. If you don't already.
And can i just say that 'hello, my name is peanut' is my favourite opening gambit ever!

You see, this is where as usual, i realise i see the world differently than you lot. To me, the jrjr one is brilliant, whereas that just looks like one of those awful covers to the megazine, back when it was "britain's hardest comic!".
But congrats for getting it, and it's bloody great to see these different interpretations of dredd, even if some arent to my taste.

Five worst? That's hard- as there has been a LOT of utter piffle in the prog over the years. Off the top of my head, I'd go for:

Dry Run
Junker
Night/Below/Beyond Zero
Lobster Random
The Red Seas

But it would be easy to add Harlem Heroes 2, Tao De Moto, Trash, Millar Robo Hunter, Samantha Slade, Time House, Sooner Or Later, Swifty's Return, Rick Random, Abellard Snazz, The Grudgefather, Strontium Dogs, Balls Brothers...

Christmas eve, seven years ago, i was walking to work to do a late shift, feeling spectacularly unwell. I got halfway there and doubled over on the grass verge, and was violently sick for what seems like hours... Halfway through i realised it was coming out both ends. And then i had to walk home.
Hope you feel better, cf. Bed, fluids, darkness and a potty.

Wow! I'm now as excited and thrilled as I was when Spider-Man leapt into action... back in the seventies on tv.

Is this Judge Dredd, or Life on Mars: SA?

Yeeeesh.

Put me down for the dvd- when it's a fiver in the bargain bins.

Apparently, during this cold snap, Moore's been at it again- delivering hampers to old folk.
How did he cope with the snow? Simple, he used "skizz".
Eyethangkew.
