Creative Common / Re: Dredd Model

Really like that judgefett, there's a definite early-2000AD vibe to it, and not necessarily just mcmahon so dont worry about the boots. I prefer dredd to be a skinny, lithe individual, without an ounce of wasted muscle- not the steroidal bodybuilder drawn by some artists- so this is spot on.

Can the mods lock this thread before burdis gets on to his mankini and speedos? I have no wish to think of innocent foreign fans, lured by the rufty tufty sweary violence of dredd 3d, coming face-to-biffin with commando forces' male cameltoe. If we reward fans for their devotion to thrillpower, we should equally start punishing them for the exact opposite.

Put it this way- no one wants a forum regulars 'me in my pants' thread. Except my wife, apparently, who says she'd love it.

I checked the availability of cw9 the other day, and amazon said november 29th. I thought it was late october, and was going to preorder. If it had been nov 9th, i'd have still put my order in.

Im hoping that for the centenary, they begin releasing the series in chunky paperback volumes, so more people can re/discover britain's greatest ever comic strip.

Help! / A list of comic dates on computer? HOW?
15 October, 2012, 08:10:47 PM
Here's what I want to do, but I don't know how to do it:

I want to print a long list of the cover dates for the 80s/90s EAGLE and 70s/80s BATTLE, in the following format:

BATTLE

13/05/79   20/05/79   27/05/79   03/06/79   10/06/79 etc

on A4 paper, so I can fold them up and put them in my wallet and carry them around with me for when I'm unexpectedly in a junk shop, or on eBay and am confronted with lovely comics. However, I need a way of working out the dates and printing them without physically and laboriously sitting here and typing them up- which would drive me mental.

Also, I don't know the dates of leap years and if or when the comics changed the days of publication. Is there some bizarre site on the interwebz that has this kind of info, without me having to cut and paste dates from a comic site? Basically, I want someone to do it for me... preferably without me having to pay them. Does anyone know of somewhere this can be done?

I have loathed Grease since the seventies, and have been cursed with it being the dvd of choice in every single residential home, daycentre and challenging behaviour unit i have ever worked in. The only positive is it's slowly becoming usurped by Mamma Mia.

Er...

Various BEST OF 2000AD SPECIAL EDITIONS with the boys- although we are disappointed they repeat he same rogue trooper story across a couple and drop from 132 pages to eightysomething, it's been an absolute pleasure. Somewhat bizarre to have a conversation over dinner about 'the secretary life of the blitzspear', 'the visible man', 'top dogs', 'the alien zoo', 'max normal' and 'robusters'. But fab to reread at full size with such lovely print quality. I got them out to check them over and have been passing them around. Think they're in my youngest's bedroom at the moment. Happy days!

'Grey Skies' should be the sequel series, in a 'Night/ Below/ Beyond Zero' manner. It should be 'Grey Area'/ 'Grey Skies' (about the wider galactic situation) and finally 'Grey Beards', about all the hunky ETC soldiers' girlfriends.

General / Re: Judge Dredd/Mars Attacks Crossover

Once i'd recovered from the shock, i have to say that Mars Attacks Judge Dredd is probably the coolest idea for anything, ever, and deserves to be not only comics but lunchboxes, cards, tv cartoons and a brand of ice lolly too. In the wake of the failure of the movie and the trimming of the Megazine's frequency, this is just the kind of brilliantly mental left-field news that puts a smile on my face. Bring it on!

Because one year ago tonight i was briefly a hero to my kids when i "saved the man who fell off the cliff" while watching the fireworks.

Tonight, no one fell off the cliff that i am aware of- though we did get up there late due to the rain and i overheard something about someone stuck in a crevice and the rescue team being on their way- but the fireworks themselves were (and i use this phrase advisedly) fucking amazing. So much better than last year, bigger, more explosive and just honestly worthy of the loud "ooh"s and "ahh"s they elicited from the throng, myself included.

Top fun.

Why thank you Mr Back, that's rather helpful. While i love Mr Mills more than life itself, i do sometimes lose track of umpteen decades of ABContinuity. That's genuinely of great assistance.

As for the question of the hardback/paperback editions- i look at this much like most other books lucky enough to debut between hard covers, in that you buy that version if you cant wait to read it and otherwise you hang about til the paperback a few months later. Stephen King and Slaine get bought in hardback chezbluething, but with james herbert and the ABCs i wait for the paperbacks.

Yes, there should definitely be a collected edition of all four at some point- but while Rebellion can flog the thinner individual volumes, let them, i say. Although i would appreciate volumes three and four in paperback before my eyesight degenerates too far for me to see the pages...

And having been surrounded by dr who fans since i was fifteen years old- on a personal level (bezzie mate's a hardcore fan) as well as being active in local groups (dwas and otherwise) in various parts of the country between 1985 and 1996  and having met many of the folk who are 'famous in fandom' and some who went on to work on the show in various capacities- i'll stand by my characterisation of those fans! But that's a whoooole other conversation!
