It's my birthday the week after and I was too old for the Cathouse the day I was born. I may come anyway though.

By the way, The List says it costs seven quid to get in. You may want to have a word with them.

Ouch, good spot. Will try and get that sorted, cheers!

"Sucker Punch has rightly been hailed as one of the nastiest films of all time."

Has it???

By who?

And why?

Well exactly, by nobody except Tookey himself. He then goes on to comment about its "fetishism of slutty schoolgirls", also complaining that other critics didn't pick up on the "sexualisation of an eleven year old girl in Kick Ass".

Hmm.

Do you think Tookey may live his life to the dual soundtrack of Michael Jackson and the interminable thwack-thwack-thwack of guilty self-flagellation?

SBT

Funnily enough I just left a comment on that article saying as much, I'm sure it won't make it past the mods though. I actually do find something really disturbing about the way he seems to see sexualized children in everything he watches. Saying that I haven't actually seen Sucker Punch yet, but from what I've seen the girls certainly aren't dressed like 14 year olds, unless kids are all dressing like burlesque ninjas these days.

Our album is out that week so we're celebrating on Friday 22nd April with a free show at the Cathouse in Glasgow. There's two support bands and anyone at the gig can stick around for the club night for free. Should be a belter and won't cost you a penny, maybe see some of you there if you fancy a night oot!

Incredibly bad. Utterly shite. Please don't put yourself through it Chi.

Seconded, it was on telly a while ago and I lasted about 20 minutes. It's ridiculously bad, and bears no resemblance whatsoever to the original.

All this Romero talk has got me wanting to watch them all again! My girlfriend has only seen Survival, so maybe I'll subject her to them.

Day has always been me and my brother's favorite too, Dawn is great but you just can't beat how massively bleak Day is. You really feel like you're watching the last humans on earth, and the fact that all is pretty much lost from the get-go makes for a really dark film.

I do hope that Diary and Survival go on to gain respect, as my immediate reaction to Diary was disappointment but watching it recently it's already grown on me in a big way. It's got a nice balance of humor and darkness, and I like how in the last act they more or less
wind up making the movie they were shooting at the start but for real
, gives me a chuckle. Survival I liked straight away, CG aside.

I've seen it, and found it very funny. It's actually weirder than the trailer lets on if you can imagine that (the 4th wall gets broken as soon as it starts, some characters know there's a script and talk about why they're behaving the way they are, there's an 'audience' observing and commenting on everything that happens). All very postmodern. Slightly too long (feels a bit like a short film stretched out a bit) but there's plenty of laughs in it. It's more David Lynch than Garth Marenghi, while being absolutely nothing like David Lynch so I don't even know why I said that.

Well worth seeing, if only for the fact that there isn't anything else like it really!

Three movies yesterday. Gleaming The Cube, which is a lot slower than I remember. I'm surprised I had the attention span for it as a kid, but I guess the fact that it was totally radical and tubular etc. still made it super cool. Total eighties cheese  :)

Trick 'r Treat, which I'd never even heard of, which is odd considering it's got a recognizable cast and was produced by Bryan Singer. Don't remember it ever getting a release. It's actually a lot of fun, an Creepshow style anthology where the stories all run alongside one another and cross each other's paths. Very glossy and not scary, but fun.

Survival of The Dead, which while I agree with popular opinion is Romero's weakest zombie movie, is still great I think. The acting is ropey, the dialogue is cheesy and the poor CG makes you wish badly that he'd stick to physical effects. I think I mainly like it because in terms of story and setting it's very different from any other zombie films out there, which isn't easy at this stage. I find it pretty touching actually. Plus zombies make anything Win.

The rumor was that Charlie Sheen would have a cameo. Not aware of him every raping anyone, but he did throw a bedside lamp at a prozzer once so he's in the right ballpark.

Not sure if chucking lamps at prozzies is in the same ballpark as raping children, though he did star in one of the Scary Movie sequels - between that and 2 And A Half Men he's at least got a good track record with unfunny comedies.

I was putting him in the same 'aggression towards women' ballpark as Tyson, not the 'raping children' ballpark of Glitter. Although I hadn't realized he was in a Scary Movie, so I'm now happy to put him in the 'raping children' ballpark.

My sister texted me to say my Dad had a date with a woman from his gym this weekend, which warmed my heart and made me really happy for my paw. Then she tells me it's an April Fool, it wasn't particularly funny.

Same as the first film, then.

Being as it's set in Bangkok, perhaps the convicted celebrity rapist in this one playing a lovable version of themselves will be Gary Glitter?

The rumor was that Charlie Sheen would have a cameo. Not aware of him every raping anyone, but he did throw a bedside lamp at a prozzer once so he's in the right ballpark.
