Books & Comics / Re: The Culled

Ghost/zombie one was a pretty good read. Looking forward to another Afterblight book but The Culled had such a distinctive style, and however well written the 2nd one is it'll probably miss that quite sorely. Or maybe it'll be even better, who knows. If it was a GN who should do the art? Maybe it's just because he did the cover but thought Mark Harrison would be great. Or Ezquerra, he does the post apocalyptic thing pretty nicely.

I agree it would make a great GN, but I really enjoyed the novel a great deal. Passed it on to my brother who doesn't bother with comics, he loved it and is now asking for a loan of Spurrier's comic stuff, so with luck it's also brought in a new toothy reader. The only Abaddon novel I haven't enjoyed so far was the sniper one, that was a struggle to get through.

I guess you're right in that I had pretty high hopes for it as something to fill the gap while Dr Who wasn't on, and that's possibly why it seemed to suck so hard. I was looking forward to a darker, more adult version of Who, but it was actually the really hamfisted attempts to be adult that turned me right off in the end. Or quite close to the beginning as it happens.

That's how I feel when I listen to Insane Clown Posse. I think you can enjoy something whilst still acknowledging that it's naff, however I just couldn't do it with Torchwood for some reason.

Stopped watching after the 2nd episode, it was terrible. My mum still watches it every week though so it must appeal to some people.

See the wii points: I gather they work like microsoft points on the 360? And did I pick up correctly that you can actually earn them in games and by registering games online?

Got a wii for my lady's chrimbo and she found it so it's now set up and I'm watching her pummel some poor jesus look-a-like in the boxing. I hadn't realized you got the sports with it, pleasantly surprised as I only bought her one game(Wario Ware).

Yeah, and I got the impression it did pretty well as was in our local cinema for a lot longer than your average foreign flick.

Went to see it this morning, excellent stuff. Cinema was pretty busy for a Sunday morning too, especially for a foreign language movie, so if that's any indication of how well it's doing then good on Del Toro, it deserves to be huge. The guy's imagination is incredible, don't think I'll forget the child eater in a hurry. This or The Prestige get film of the year for me, two thumbs fresh.

My brother brought this round yesterday and we had a  couple of multiplayer games, was blown away by how it looked, intrigued to play the single player now.

I like Tank Girl, is good garish fun and Lori Petti is hot to trot in it. Haven't read the comics, although my other half has them so I might give them a read at some point. I got the movie for a couple of quid in HMV recently which was nice.

They look awesome, although I don't know much about the cost of cakes these days. In my current state of hunger I would give a bazillion pounds for one, they look tasty.
