Classifieds / Ian Kennedy artwork in 2007 Calendar
25 September, 2006, 12:59:46 PM
Thought it might be of interest to some of the Ian Kennedy fans. I know there are a few. An 'Art of Commando' calendar has been released by DCT and there are a number of pages featuring Ian's glorious work sans blurb and logos. You can buy them online at www.dcthomson.co.uk.

...going!
Yes it's finally on ebay. Sorry for the shameless promotion/plug here. But I felt someone here should know. My Kevin O'neill original art is now on ebay. SOB!*!choke...etc.
It's a pretty cool Batman page and even if your not interested some of you might like a look at it.
I have a copy of the page which I coloured in photoshop on my harddrive which I will post when I work out how to do it.
Here's the ebay link -

If you look closely they don't actually credit Comicraft with the colour. The creators name appears then what they are credited with appears underneath. The art looks great!

Ah- now I get you. No. The handle comes from the old Dandy character soon to make a return drawn by the excellent Nick Brennan and scripted by Scott Montgomery (he of the megazine Desperate Dan article). Lovely stuff!

Actually , I already have. I do a lot of colour work but mainly in kid's comics and just for fun I scanned the Page in and had a bash at it. I'll try and post them when I get a moment.

I'll try and post a pic in the new year...how do you do it?

I am cleaning out my studio in the New Year (wife's orders). I can't decide which of my original pages of art should go to ebay. Should I part with an original page of Batman art by extraordinary artist Kevin O'neill or not? If I do....how much should I be looking for? I have no idea. It's a good page featuring Batman himself, Gordon and a great rendition of the Batmobile.

Don't think I can say what the project is/was. It's on the shelf due to other higher priority projects. Which is a bit of a shame. The Ian Kennedy artwork may appear elsewhere and when I find out for sure I will post. The work should appear, if there's any justice, 'cos it will be a real treat for some of the old timers out there. It involves a classic comic character from way back when...I wish I could say more!

Ian Kennedy is still working and his work can be found gracing the Commando covers. Myself and a colleague had the pleasure of meeting and working with him on a proposal for a new comic last year. It was a personal dream come true. I couldn't believe I was actually working with the man, let alone meeting him!True genius and a total pro!!!

Has anyone checked the brilliant painted artwork by Graham Manley in this years Dandy annual. I know you've all seen his black and white stuff but I've seen what this guy can do with good old fashioned paint...incredible colour work. Lets see a fully painted Graham Manley cover!!! If Graham's going to Bristol this year I'll try and persuade him to take some stuff to show off. Honestly, some of it's breathtaking.

Billy The Cat will be in next years Beano annual. I know 'cos I've already seen the coloured up artwork by Wayne Thompson. It looks fab and I will try and find out when he will next be appearing in the weekly Beano and keep you all posted.
