My wife's obsessed with this as well, but luckly she's been in Australia for the last 4 weeks so I haven't been subjected to it.

I believe that's the original Undertones minus Fergal. Mate of mine informs me they are playing a benefit gig in Belfast in September/October at the Empire. Apparently they've got a new album out as well, supposed to be really good. Can't comment as I'm only going on what I've been told.

I was chatting to a friend about this last night, her 15 year old son has played the game! I asked where he had played it he said "round a mates house" and "toys r us had it on one of the consoles in their store"!! You've got to ask why a store like Toys r Us have an 18 certificate game running on a console that any kid of any age can come in and play. What's next, XXX porn on screen in Blockbusters when you go to rent a DVD!? I don't think people/parents take certification seriously any more, one of my older kids bought my youngest son GTA Vice City for Christmas, he was 10, obviously I made him take it straight back to the shop, but how many other 10 year olds are out there picking up prostitutes and mowing down pedestrians!? I'm not for one minute suggesting that the game directly caused the murder of this kid, but questions have got to be asked!

Prog / Re: Prog 1400
08 August, 2004, 01:40:40 PM
I just want to send out a hearty thankyou to the subscription droids. My Prog 1400 arrived in the post and when I took it out of the envelope, the corner of the back page and about 6 pages of the prog were bent over with quite a bad crease on the cover spread. A quick phone call to the subs department and a week later I've got a pristine prog in the post! Thanks.

Did they ever do anything else, period! Don't know why it's still sat there, I think I picked it up at a car boot ages ago and just never moved it!

I had a similar attitude to Busted, until last year while talking to a friend I hadn't seen for nearly 20 years, pointed out that if Busted wearing Anti Pasti T-shirts and playing Undertones cover versions gets some kids listening to this type of music then it can only be good!

My son, who's 11, likes McFly and Busted, he also listens to Linkin Park, Good Charlote etc. He actually prefers the Undertones original Teenage Kicks to Busted's crap cover version, and listens to some of my punk stuff. So it's all good!

On the subject of cover versions by these bands, it was only in the last couple of years that I discovered that Denis Denis by Blondie, my favorite group as a kid, was a cover version! It's only because we're older now and remember the originals that we are so critical, it's always happened, we, or I, just wasn't aware of it.

Rant over!!!

IIRC Dom-1 told me that the FFAF Poster Mag (Not the Meg) was to be given out at FFAF gigs, obviously to try to attract people to 2000AD and the Meg. I think it was given away in the Meg as well as a bonus!

Not exactly a hero, more of a Legend!! I had a chat and a drink with Charlie Harper at the weekend. A nice bloke.
