I guess at the time Kano seemed a bizarre choice. Little did we know he would quickly become a classic.

General / If I Didn't Write It, It Never Happened
20 February, 2007, 04:08:05 PM
Following PVS's comment that he feels at the minute that if Wagner hasn't written a Dredd it isn't really true can any one tell me if I imagined Wagner saying : "If I didn't write it, it never happened" as regards Dredd.

If he did say it where did he say it or have I miss remembered. I know that Carlos in the Class of 79 interview says that as far as he's concerned the Final Solution never happened as he, as cocreator, didn't draw it.

Slightly off topic as far as this weeks prog review goes but I've just found on my computer a copy of a letter I started to write in May 05 asking Tharg for some sort of 30th Celebration. Although we haven't seen what he's got in store for us next week I still wish I'd sent it.

"Dear Tharg

In two years time (Wednesday 28th February 2007) it will be thirty years since you unveiled the Galaxy's Greatest Comic.

As it takes your droids a certain amount of time to prepare strips before they appear in the comic (Breathing Space?) I would like to make an early request for a year long celebration in both the Meg and the Weekly and not just one anniversary strip and a party at the Ministry of Sound which is what happened for the 25th birthday .

The form these celebrations take should at least include the return of some classic characters and creators (Hasn't John Wagner promised to write a Fatty story especially for Brian Bolland). Perhaps you could bring back the voting coupon to ask the readers who they want to see return. Also it would be nice if some of the design elements from classic progs where returned particularly the return of  Dredd to the centre pages.  Also surely this would be the perfect opportunity to give David Bishop the go ahead to publish a warts and all book version of the successful Thrill Power Overload!

C'mon Tharg you still owe us for the Nineties."

This is just a quick question for Da Bish.

I know that the Thrill Power Overload book has a lot more material than the original article so I was just wondering will there be any photos of the Command Module and Editorial Droids etc throughout the years.

The only time I remember seeing it were when Madness appeared on the TV programme Splash, the photos of which appeared in one of the Sci Fi specials.

Is there a list of which Tharg commissioned which stories because obviously when a new Tharg appears there are still stories being published which they had no part in.

This is currently the case with the Meg

What a Gent! Hats off to you and I hope you and your friend both have a speedy recovery after the procedure. You really will be able to say that you do a lot of work for charity but you don't like to talk about it as we wince home from the op. Good luck once again.

"I think my problem with Death Aid isnt so much the story, which is a fun enough idea - it's the way it uses the Hunters Club (admittedly a personal favourite) as the adversaries. Previously, they are ultra careful thorns in Dredds side - here they are bomb happy psychos...

If he'd just used his own group of do-gooders unhinged by the events of Necropolis, sure - but to me it was a huge waste of the Hunters Club rematch that I had in my mind would one day be inevitable."

I also was a massive fan of the orginal Hunters' Club story. I found it genuinely sinister with the cold blooded way the Hunters turned on each other when the going got tough.

If I had any skillz I'd right a sequel to the Hunters' Club where its revealed the Death Aid debacle was merely a ruse by the Hunters Club supremo to throw Dredd off the scent.

As Judge Connolly says to Dredd at the end of the Death Aid story in prog 720:

"Kind of Odd, really. We must've been trying for ten years to nail the Hunters' Club, an all of a sudden they pop up an' go crazy".

Like PJ Maybe as far as Dredd is concerned the Hunters' Club is no more thus enabling them to keep on Hunting on the QT.

Does anyone have to hand all the Judge Dredd logo's which have been used over the years?
