Off Topic / Re: The sports thread...

I support Brighton & Hove Albion (hence the forum name)who have had an amazing season this year and are already promoted. Sadly I have barely been to watch them since the Goldstone Ground was shut in 1997, I was a season ticket holder until then, but hope to see a few games at the new stadium next season. If I can get a ticket that is, 22000 capacity stadium and 16000 season tickets already sold! I have a few friends who are season ticket holders and sometimes get offered a ticket if someone cant make it.

My interest in football has diminished a bit over the years and I rarely watch it on TV, usually just England games and the World Cup.

That's about it for me but I will occasionally watch Formula 1.

Yeah, totally agree with that Hoo-Haa. It hasn't put me off of reading more by him.

Well im almost finished the epic dune and love it as much as i did 20 years ago

I read them all again a few years ago and like you, still loved the original as well as the rest. I've never bothered with the others written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J Anderson as I've heard bad things about them.

I recently read Turn Coat (Book 11 of The Dresden Files). Very enjoyable with some great characters, lots of action and some elements of previous books were tied up and there were hints at things to come too.

Just finished Neuromancer by William Gibson. I struggled with this a bit at times and found it a chore to get through. Some great ideas but it just didn't grab me as much as I thought it would. I had a feeling of deja vu with it too. I know I haven't read it before but there were certain names and phrases I seemed to recognise. Odd.

Next I'll be reading The stars my destination by Alfred Bester because I have heard good things about this book on this very forum.

I'll also be reading the second Northlanders trade and The Taxidermist.

Not an early bird but I'm making my first visit. Be gentle.

OK finally back and rested from KaPow and a great King's X gig where I had the added pleasure of meeting top bloke and fellow boarder Steve Longdon!

That's me folks.
Great to meet you Dweezil.

I have that somewhere too. It came out before I started getting the prog (when it merged with Star Lord) and was given to me about 15 years ago by my cousin along with the first two 2000AD annuals.

....I saw my favourite band, King's X, three times in four days, was invited in to a soundcheck by the bass player/lead singer and also met a member of this very forum at the London show.

Glad you all had a great time.
I did get to Manchester but never left Oxford Road and the Curry Mile.
The King's X gig at Academy 3 was amazing (as they always are) and we had some fine ale and a good curry too.

My only comic type thing of the weekend was buying The Taxidermist in Forbidden Planet in Wolverhampton the next day. Another great King's X gig there and went to the soundcheck too as we bumped in to the bass player/singer wandering the streets of Wolverhampton and he invited us in.

I enjoyed my short time in two streets in Manchester and hope to return one day to see some more.

Have a great time folks. If it had been any other weekend I would have been there but I'm off oop north.
I look forward to reading all about it on here when I'm back home on Monday.

John fits one quite well, not sure if we'll get anyone for the other.

Bugger, shame I'm not going, the other costume fitted me really well. My glasses under the helmet is a problem though :D.

I have an idea for this so I'm afraid my crap efforts will probably be returning to the comp.

I can see the day when every single item of clothing you wear will have to be badged; including ultimately the straitjacket... :D

With eagle buckles of course.  :)

Cool, you can add me to the list. I'm sure it will look great, the Judge badge one is very impressive.

Will you be getting some done for Southers to purchase John Beryl? Hint, hint.  ;)
