Foxy and Flip-r! Excellent stuff! It's all looking surprisingly coherent despite everyone's different styles.

I neglected to scan my page before I sent it. You should get it this morning Sharky, will you do the honours? We'll be able to see the full set then.

Exciting!

 Orlok, that was hilarious. Please 'review' every other shitty Mark Millar Dredd in similar style. It's far better than actually reading them.

Saying that, could you scan in the Dead Judges story? I have to see it with my own eyes to come to terms with it.

Chivo and Davey, great work! I've just finished my page, I'll send it tomorrow.

Not sure if it's strictly neccessary to do this but I thought I'd post the design I've done for the demon which appears on page 3. As I'm drawing it's first appearance, I thought it might be useful for the sake of continuity.

I'm not doing this so it can be copied really, it just might look weird if Jikan is fighting a wildly different looking demon on page 4.

C'mon, it's the part Clint Eastwood was born to play.

Hehehe... really wish he will be back for one last ever role, Saint of Killers...

No no no - Lance Henrikson as Saint of Killers!!!

You'd choose Lance Henriksen over Clint Eastwood??!!?!?

If they ever make a biopic about Lance Henriksen (unlikely, yes) I'd rather see Clint Eastwood play the role of Lance Henriksen than Lance Henriksen himself.

I'd definitely be up for doing a page of the Jikan story if there are any left.

Failing that, if anyone else needs an artist, as long as it's not too long, I'll do something else.

Great mate. Enjoy the "quality time".

The real question should be WHY would you make the Star Wars prequels?

The films were totally unnecessary in every way, adding nothing of any value to the story. If, as in George Lucas' case, your main reason for doing them is to make a lot of money whilst abandoning all artistic integrity, then I don't think it really matters what they're like as long as people buy the toys.

A less smart arsed answer would be to have got someone else to write and dirwct them, got rid of the first film and concentrate on the rise and fall of Anakin which was handled very poorly and unconvincingly in the films as they were made.

Hmmm, the Oxford store has the exact same books but with a few extra quid slapped on top of the prices you mention (the Spider book, for example, is £3.99).

I miss Leeds.

That's what you get dahn sarf innit? Radiator, as far as I know, these books have only just arrived this week so it might be worth having another look in your local shop.

And just to correct myself, it's Tank Girl volumes 2 and 3 on sale. They don't have volume 1.

Books & Comics / Cheap classic comics!
17 March, 2011, 01:44:32 PM
Anyone who lives in a town with The Works discount book shop in it might want to go have a look as they've got some cheap comic collections at the moment.

They have a big hard back collection of Jeff Hawke stories and a big hard back collection of The Spider, both for £1.99 each.

There's also volumes 1 and 2 of the original run of Tank Girl for £2.99 each.

They also had a Superman Returns movie prequel collection, A Star Trek-reboot movie prequel collection and a World of Warcraft hardback. And the Akira Club artbook for really cheap too.

Don't know if they'll have them everywhere but they've got loads of all of them in the Leeds store.

Michael Gough- Dr Who's Celestial Toymaker (who we were just remembering, sort of, on another thread. The Curse strikes again!) and Chancellor Hedin. Also Batman's butler Alfred, and of course Emerich Belasco in the absolutely bloody fantastic 1972 horror movie The legend Of Hell House- where he did nothing but sit dead in a chair, and yet still delivered one of the most frightening performances of all time.

and Guinness Extra Cold.

HEATHEN!
Guinness, like proper beer, should be cool if not slightly warm, definitely not 'Extra Cold'

M.

I know that Guinness Extra Cold is an abomination Mikey, I was adopting the persona of a Guinness marketing cunt, eager to mention all variations of the product.

I forgot 'Guinness Draught'.

A friend lent me a few volumes of this but I'm afraid I thought it was pretentious, annoying guff.

I understand it's highly regarded by certain people but it just set my teeth on edge.

Sorry for the needlessly negative remark, I just felt like giving my 2 pen'orth.
