Every time I see this thread I read it as "Who will buy my grotty old tart?"

I've heard of self pimping before but...

Sorry. I'll go now...

Good gravy... That's the first I've heard about this!  :P

So, one of my all-time favourite artists is teaming up with my all-time favourite me - I'm actually having heart palpitations...

Ha Ha! That's brilliant. You'd have thought they'd have told you first.

I know it's supposed to be an exclusive, but even so...

I don't see the problem to be honest, his chin looks massive on the second picture in your first post.

All a matter of taste I suppose.

YAY Bryan Talbot! One of my favourite artists of all time. That looks stunning, very cinematic.

I don't usually like computery art too much, I'm more of a pen/ink/paper sort of old-fashioned sod but that looks like it's going to be gorgeous.

I disagree. I never liked Higgin's Dredd in the old days. He'd never be able to see out of those tiny eye slits.

Much prefer the new style.

Yeah, that Anderson picture is pretty ridiculous.

And the Dredd pic is a straight lift from that poster by Patrick Goddard (can't do a linky, I'm on my phone. Anyone know which pic I mean?)

A Dredd pub quiz game though? How many people will realistically be interested in playing that? I would, obviously but most of my mates wouldn't be bothered.

Bang goes any chance i had of showing this thread to a ten year old.

To be fair, your sig is inviting trouble.

If I've got a definite composition in mind, I usually rough out the whole image in big geometric shapes, then gradually add more and more detail.

If I'm just sketching or messing about I usually start with eyes.

Well, it turns out my wife has a couple of friends living in Fukushima who lived in England until recently with English husbands. We used to meet up every now and then and have Japanese food and let all the kids play with each other. We don't know if they're alright at this stage.

Also, my sister in law's husband has family living there, including his father.

Horrible.

I'm a bit freaked out by this terrible event because...

Two or three days ago I was on the BBC News website while in bed before getting up for work and I'm sure I saw on the news ticker thing near the top of the page that there had been an "earthquake in Japan, measuring 7.9"
I told my girlfriend about this but there was nothing on the news.
When I got to work that day I told my boss about it, as he is going there for a month in August, but still there was nothing on the news.

And now it happens! Bizarre.

There had indeed been another earthquake earlier in the week measuring about 7.9. No damage was reported as a result of that one though.

My wife's family don't live too near the affected areas but she has friends near Fukushima. Haven't heard from anyone yet as we're both at work.

Looks awful on the news though.

I like it. It's well within the boundaries of various artist's interpretations of Dredd over the years. The helmet and Lawgiver have a Bisley look to them, The pads and eagle all look good. The boots look cool too and Dredd's build is spot on too.

The only thing is, I'm never going to be able to justify spending this kind of money on a statue. And my wife wouldn't let me put it on the fire place anyway.

I'd like some smaller, more affordable, perhaps more practical items of merchandise. Maybe some character key rings, bottle openers or car stickers. How about some little diorama models like those you find in Japanese 'gatcha' machines for a few quid each?

Just something that costs less than a week's wages please!

Woolly, that is bloody fantastic. It's got real depth and I love his expression.

I can in my youth remember some poor dude, tied to two bent-to-the floor bendy trees, in an old B+W Tarzan film.

wow yeah-- i remember this scared the hell out of me a kid

That would be either Tarzan The Ape Man or Tarzan And His Mate- both Johnny Weissmueller movies. But I can't remember which.

...And His Mate is notorious for being refilmed to remove all the nudity; nudity that didn't turn up again til (if I recall) the late eighties, but may now be available in the region one boxsets.

Johnny Weissmueller rocks.

SBT

What manner of nudity? Surely Tarzan didn't let Jane swing on his creeper?

I just found his strong accent hilarious. Like Dave Prowse doing Vader's voice.
