I wore this at a goth club night (uniform theme) in Oxford last night.

Badge, buckle and helmet by Termight Replicas.
Shoulder, knee and elbow pads by Jon Bayliss (who also makes the Termight Replicas helmet).
Leathers by AS-Supplies.
Gloves, boots and belt pouches from the Galleries of Justice uniform as made for DreddCon:1. These are the last bits I need to upgrade, especially since the belt pouches are sewn shut.
Chain from B&Q.

For more photos see Facebook.

That looks incredible! Are those shoulder pads as heavy as they look? You'd end up with permanent spine damage if you tried pogoing with them on.

The eeeeeviiiiiil Captain in Pan's Labyrinth kills a poor farmer with a wine bottle in very gruesome fashion. Made me wince in the cinema.

I'm finding this whole thread quite gurling, to be honest.

I might agree if I knew what 'gurling' was.

Cyberleader, are you made of money? Sixty odd quid for a miniature Transformers toy?

Next time you want some tat sending over from Japan, ask me first. I've got relatives over there and I might be able to undercut the suppliers.

well if your asking there is 2 things im arfter carnt get a splayer for them any where on english sights im arfter a BB286 Gundam Daishogun and a Evangelion EVA-00 Prototype Blue (LM-HG) the only time I find them there at redikilus ripoff prises

If you send me a link to the ones you've seen, I'll see what I can do. Should be able to get you a quote at least.

Ichi the Killer has a couple of good death scenes in it.

Woman bisected vertically by heel mounted blade? CHECK!

Gangster suspended from ceiling by lots of meat-hooks on chains digging into his back, then boiling oil poured all over him? CHECK!

I liked it, too - in particular, the Ian Rankin strip made me go out and get a copy of the original short story it was based on, so job done there if nothing else.

See, I thought that was utter rubbish. The art was poor and the story was non existant.

I've been struggling to work up any enthusiasm to read issue 6. I read Kick Ass which was OK but, as literaly everybody else has said, it needs more pages per issue.

I read American Jesus which I also enjoyed, and the Ian Rankin strip which I would consider to be fairly poor quality even for a small press story, let alone a high profile publication like this.

I keep almost starting to read Turf, then deciding against it.

Same with The Pro and Superior...*sigh*...I've only skimmed them but I got the gist. Is anyone else bored senseless with stories that examine and poke fun at the phenomenon of the superhero? It's been done to death now surely. 'Ooh look, Superman's getting a blow job *titter!*', 'Ooh, aren't Batman and Robin gay!'.......Fuck off. It's all been said before, better and funnier.

Watchmen, Top Ten and Marshall Law collectively said everything worth saying as far as taking a sideways look at superheroes goes, everything else has been boring, obvious, tired and obnoxious. It mostly seems to be written by Garth Ennis and Mark Millar too although I don't make a habit of reading their stuff outside of CLiNT.

The Boys is plowing a similar boring, obvious furrow and that's shit too.

Prog / Re: Prog 1724 : FLESH IS BACK!

Cover- Beautiful! That's definitely Angelina Jolie there with a big gun, and the bloke looks like the sarcastic doctor from Scrubs (can't remember his name).

Judge Dredd- I am enjoying this, I reckon it will benefit from a re-read all in one go. The story itself has been moving very quickly but the weeks gap between episodes sometimes has me losing the plot a bit. Must be my age.

Shakara-
They are riding a planet. 'Nuff said.
Flesh- I've never read the original. I didn't read the prog until the 3-400's and I never caught it as a reprint either. I read Flesh 2 and wasn't particularly impressed by that but for some reason I've been really looking forward to this. I thought it was great. It set up the story, introduced some of the characters and gave a real feel for the tone of the coming series.

I also liked James MacKay's art. Yes, it's a little 'rough' in places, a bit heavily inked and the line is too thick here and there but I thought it suited the story perfectly. Can't wait for some dino on dino action (not the kind of dino on dino action we got in XTNCT however...).

I bought a self published comic called 'Marraquai: The Forest and the City' a few years ago at a convention with some lovely dinosaur art from James MacKay in it. I wonder if Pat Mills saw that and gave him a call.

Time Twisters- I love Nick Dyer's art too so I was already drawn into this story. A lot was done with the few pages given to tell the story and it was quite touching. One of the best Future Shock/Time Twisters I've read in a while.

Kingdom- Bloody hell! I'm surprised Herlocker didn't see that coming. I wonder where Gene will go now he's broken free of The Master's influence. I love Kingdom, it's one of my all time favourite 2000AD stories.

Great prog overall. Loved every story.

Captain Rhodes, Rickles and Steele in Day of the Dead. Impossible to choose between them- 'choke on 'em!' is adlibbed and aces, but Rickles' high-pitched-and-climbing scream as his vocal chords are stretched to breaking is possibly the nastiest moment i remember from my youthful cinema-going.
SBT

Good call! Rickles high pitched scream haunted me for years after I watched Day of the Dead as a yoot.

It's got to be either Sully 'I lied' or Bennett 'let off some steam' from Commando. A death just isn't the same without a one liner.

I was gonna say this. Commando is great for 'killing followed by pithy one liner' scenes.

"Don't disturb my friend, he's dead tired."

If I didn't know any better I would suspect, Roger, that you have purposefully asked a meaningless question simply to mess with our minds.

There can't be a preference for one or the other can there? The style has to suit the story. Can you imagine Dennis the Menace drawn in gritty Henry Flint style or Dredd drawn by Leo Baxendale?

Actually, they'd both be fucken awesome.

Games / Re: God-poll-ton: Favourite fighting game
07 March, 2011, 03:33:36 PM
I've played a lot of fighting games in my time. Nowadays it's mostly Smash Bros with my son.

The one I had the most fun with back in the day is Street Fighter. Turbo, Hyper Fighting, Alpha 1, 2 and 3, EX+ Alpha, the lot.

They're only good when played against a live opponent though, so these days I don't bother much. When the boy is old enough to graduate from Smash Bros., it's on baby!

Apologies for the outrageous pimping, Christov has already given this it's own thread, but I'm so very proud of it that I wanted to maximise it's viewing potential.

Sorry for being such a whore. (but not that sorry...)

Ha ha! Great.

I hope you're writing all these puns down Christov.

Pure gold ready for episode 2.

Very good!

Although 'four days earlier' a flying saucer wrote 'cocks' on the moon and in present day it's disappeared!

A wizard did it.

Actually, the graffiti was cleaned off by public spirited moon people who live in a huge underground cave.

Or something.
