Helloooo!!!

Nice to get a friendly howdy. I live in sunny Kingston in Surrey, and if any of you lot are in the Area, head for Mortlake library, which is where I go for cheap thrills (the 2000ad kind) on my lunch break. They've got shiny new copies of the Cursed Earth, Portrait of a Mutant (about some bloke with X Ray eyes, a bit far fetched I know, but it'll grow on you, trust me)and many more. End of public service announcement.

Other Reviews / Re: THAT letter

Well, in the words of my favourite TV fictional northern grannie, let's have a heated debate! Dredd (depending upon whose writing it at the time) veers from left wing satire of a fascist future america, (vast, dumbed down underclass too disconnected from reality to realise or care they're being oppressed) to a thumbs up endorsement of Dredd's system (such as the Ennis story where he confronts the dems and they suddenly 'realise' they were daft student dreamers and go home) Its the equivalent of the Tianamen Square demonstrators deciding they were wrong after all, and going home before they were violently stamped on. The feeling I get from the strip these days is that Dredd's way is implied to be right, if only because he's hung in there so long. Anyway, I wouldn't mind living there, you can get hoverboards!

Rogue does need updating a little. though still enjoyable, its sometimes hard to tell the difference between it and the Darkie's mob reprints. Anyone remember Zoids in the 80's? a few tooth writers and artists guested on that, (Alan Grant, Ron Smith among others) and when they did it went from (even then) a dated initial premise of Original Blue Zoids Good/Red Mutant Invader economic migrant Zoids from the Moon Bad, to a much more enlightened 'war is hell' view of two amoral armies scrambling for power/territory in an endless horrific conflict, with a few enlightened individuals from both sides either a)wanting out or b) realising there was no diff between the armies and that uniting them would be more efficient. All in all, a much more intelligent take on future war, but always lacking a strong central character like Rogue. I hope Rennie develops things a little more...

i remember I think - Bellardinelli drew the story, Slaine's chained up to a post in a tent awaiting execution after being caught in flagrante with Niamh, he pulls it out of the ground and does a runner, don't have the progs to check tho.

General / Re: How to kill of Sin/Dex...........
09 July, 2003, 02:14:24 AM
Hello all. As a returning reader,I never read the old Sin Dex stories that everyone seems to rate, they were part of my "200AD: The Lost Years" phase. So I just got the self referential, wannabe post modern bollocks, flying up its own arse in a Cigar piloted by Terry Thomas and a crap xerox of Anderson...But I kind of enjoyed the recent Yeowell drawn strip, and the new Andy Clarke one was ace, back to basics entertainment, potential good subplot with the cabbie, outstanding art, plenty of story covered in a few pages, so I'll give it a chance and see what happens...

Hello people. This is only my second EVER message, so I hope I don't offend any more established chaps, deep breath...

Old/hairy metal (Think Motley Crue not Led Zepp)
Nu/Rappish metal - random shouting in a bucket
British skate kids. They're rubbish and look untidy.
surly 'assistants' in guitar shops/Independent Music stores
Jammy bastards
Fancy bloody mobile phones
'Novels' for ladies with a champagne glass and/or high heel on the cover

General / Re: DREDD TO DIE?????
28 June, 2003, 06:22:22 PM
Hello there everyone, I thought this was as good a place as any to introduce myself. I am a lapsed progger recently returned to the one true faith (circa prog 1298)and loving it! In my humble opinion, Dredd probably can't (and shouldn't) die, he's just too hard. If the unthinkable happened Justice Dept would probs have to do a cover up for the sake of the cits & send an android duplicate(replicant?)out to maintain order..
