"That is a darn shame.

Both that the toys aren't being made and that it was told about like this."

Hear, hear. I was hopeing this project was gonna take off and am a little ticked off it hasn't. That said, mind, i was more than a little dissapointed that the announcement was made in the manner it was. Oh well.

I really loved Massimo's work on the Dragonheist storyline, and i'd buy, in a second, any TPB's which collected Ace Trucking, The Dead, Mean Team, Blackhawk, Dan Dare or the numerous Time Twisters/Future Shocks/one-off's that he drew.
Cheers,
Rob.

"The thing is, would the delicate art suffer on the lower-quality paper stock?"

Hopefully not too much as the era of 2000AD that it was originally printed in was when (if memory serves) the paper was of a pretty poor quality anyway.
I'd love to see Ace trucking in the Dredd case files type with any star scans and wotnot (+ covers) thrown in as well. Where can i sign up? :)
cheers,
Rob.

Hi All,
Thanks (on Massimo?s behalf. Naturally) for all the extremely kind compliments. I really do appreciate how sincerely lucky I am to have such an absolutely superb piece of artwork. I?ll be printing this thread out and posting it along with my letter as I know Massimo is thrilled to be so appreciated after all this time.
In the accompanying letter with the artwork Massimo sent to me, he wrote that he doesn?t draw often anymore these days and that only with the help ?of half a ton of medicines every day? does he manage to keep going.
Quite clearly his health isn?t getting any better but to still be able to produce such a fantastic piece of artwork is, as previously mentioned, genius indeed.
Cheers,
Rob.

Wils wrote....

"but is their anyone that could ask Matt if he'd be up for it?"

I emailed the painting to the Nerve Centre (input "at" 2000adonline.com) offering it for that very purpose Wils. But that was only 24 hours ago so i'm guessing i'll hopefully get a reply one way or another over the next week or so with any luck.

General / MASSIMO BELARDINELLI......LATEST NEWS
25 June, 2006, 04:30:04 PM
Hi All,
Just a quick post to update on Massimo. I wrote to Massimo a few months ago to generally wish him well and enquire about his health and wotnot. I also asked that if he was up to it i'd love to pay him to do a commission on my behalf.
I didn't hear back for a couple of months, and to be honest i feared the very worst (see previously Massimo posts for details) then all of a sudden a parcel turned up!
As you can see from the picture below, i was absolutely blown away.
The picture measures 14 inches by 20 inches and is painted in water colours. The detail is amazing.
Massimo also included a very personal letter part of which says that these days he is relying heavilly on medication to keep going.
Best,
Rob.
