News / Re: COMIC SHOWCASE Closing down......
12 June, 2006, 12:05:17 AM
Sad news indeed, if i'm thinking of the right place didn't it used to have a basement downstairs chock full of Classic 2000AD artwork. If i am remembering the right place (?) it's where i got my first pages of said artwork from way back in the day!
Great shop to look around and get stuff from.

Rufus, all this talk about McMahon covers is all very well and good but what we really want is a Belardinelli cover or 2 ;)

I had no idea about Open water as i'd not read/seen any previews or hype of it anywhere. So i went into watching the film without knowing all the points about

the sharks and getting left behind and wotnot. right up until it suddenly ended i was still expecting a "hollywood" ending and was pleasantly surprised when i didn't get one.

ps - don't remember the full frontal nudity though! Must be getting old :(

I saw Open Water recently as well, great low budget film that

has one of the best endings i've seen in a film for ages.

Cheers for all your help everyone, very much appreciated.
Gothmog - I wasn't even aware Showcase ran after issue 52 but it's great news that they finished the MM run. Thanks for that.
Best,

Help! / 2000AD SHOWCASE... A QUESTION!
24 May, 2006, 09:15:55 PM
Hi All,
I was recently lucky enough to be given 3 x 2000AD showcase comics, numbers 33, 34 and 35. I was flicking through them and was astonished that there is a reprint of Meltdown Man in there, apart from the 2 Extreme editions that were reprinted recently; I had no idea at all that MM had already been reprinted. And not just reprinted, reprinted in colour none the less.

But here?s my query ?.. The comics that were sent were numbers 33/34/35 now I?ve had a look and showcase number 33 corresponds to the meltdown man story from prog 187, showcase number 34 corresponds to the meltdown man story from prog 188 and showcase number 35 corresponds to the meltdown man story from prog 189. I?ve emailed opaque entity, who is vastly more knowledgeable in these things than me and he?s told me that in the last issue of Comic showcase, no.52 corresponds to prog. No. 217 (obviously some double episodes were printed in the showcase comics for these numbers to tie up)
Does anyone out there know if the final 10 episodes of Meltdown Man were ever reprinted in colour at all??
Cheers,
Rob.
