Temp job

Week 1 - Hired to organise conference for Further Education Council in Coventry

Week 2 - Invite speakers, book rooms.

Week 3 - Invite delegates, sort out invoicing.

Week 4 - Twiddle thumbs.

Week 5 - Conference cancelled, unbook everything.

End of job - it's explained to me that there was never going to be a conference, I was just hired to use up their budget.

She sounds like a cheerful sort!

You could do worse than try her on Bearheart: The Heirship Chronicles by Gerald Vizenor - a Native American take on the aftermath of apocalypse.  Very strange, very violent (and, I warn you, occasionally quite sexually perverse), but a great and very funny read nonetheless.

Dear techno geeks of questionable morality (I've read the Demonoid threads, don't try that look of wounded innocence).

I am told that there is a way of watching Region 1 DVDs on my computer, and of copying them and turning them into Region 2 DVDs to play on my home DVD player.  Is this true?  Where might I find out about such a thing?

When the creatures drink blood, they swell up.  So when he bashes his face in, they attach themselves to it and to the other lacerations on his body, blow up, and act like little self-inflating life rafts.  This keeps him afloat and helps him survive the sea's rough tossing.

When he gets to land, he is so depleted of blood, and has been injured so badly, that he does not resemble his former self in any way, and thus gets away scot free - but at WHAT COST?

I thought it was great, myself.

From the current Top 40, I've bought the rather fantastic Amy Winehouse-starring Mark Ronson version of Valerie, and the Plain White T's Hey There Delilah (which sadly gets a lot less enjoyable with repeated listening).  I like virtually everything Rihanna's released with the exception of her current overproduced single.  The Hoosiers Goodbye Mr A is great, but not dissimilar enough from Worried About Ray to persuade me to shell out my hard-earned.  Kanye West's Stronger is great as well.

My "forgotten classic" single of the week is Dream Warriors' song My Definition Of A Boombastic Jazz Style.
