Don't worry Krestel, it's still pretty good.  And he comes back for a couple of episodes anyway.

I LOVED the Book Group, Jim, you're not alone!

But I'd hate to have to choose between it and Black Books - they're both brilliant, in totally different ways.

Dylan Moran's character's surname is Black, hence he calls the shop "Black Books"

"You're in my black books" is also an expression that means you've been sent to Coventry, are out of favour, etc.

Isn't being militantly middle class just another form of Liberal Stalinism?

I'm afraid that if you do your research you'll find that civil servants in jobs involving administration are classed as lower middle class, rising "up" as they get managerial responsibility.

So where does that fit in your scheme of things?  Do you see yourself as working class, bourgeoisie, high-class, or other?

I officially have the easiest, most middle-class job available.

What do you do, Demoniser?

If you want your *actual* class, follow the link below (WARNING: extreme boredom).

Everything else is pretty much waffle, as everyone seems to have this subjective idea that class if about your value as a person (so pretty much what JEB was saying about not choosing, then).

Me, I know my class.

When I was 18, I was expelled, just before my A-levels, for an act of vandalism/anti-war protest.  Depended which side of the fence you were sitting.
A couple of days later, one of the rich pricks that infested my school came up to me and shouted (with a posh-boy lisp): "You know, Mackay, you're jutht typical of the lower-middle-clathses!"

So there you go - my exact class, as decided by someone who gave a rat's arse.

wanking doesn't help humanity survive

With overpopulation an ever-increasing danger, wanking may be the only thing that helps humanity survive...  C'mon, men, grasp the future!

I was planning to say exactly the same thing as Petemaskreplica, only in twice as many words.
