The new Thing prequel is storyboarded by one Rob McCallum, who drew Shimura with me many moons ago. He assures me that it's pretty good. The '84 original is a damed good movie, but not perfect by any means. There's a bunch of dumb scripting tying all that viscera together .

The golden age of the leading man was just after the 2nd world war. All those guys had seen things and done stuff that would make your hair curl. You could see it in Lee Marvin's eyes, in the way that Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster walked . They didn't have to prove a damned thing.

So there's another 2000AD themed doodle on http://draw-bridge.blogspot.com/2011/02/kevin-oneils-krazy-kat.html today
Where I do Krazy Kat & try copying Kevin O'Neil's Nemesis style.

Have a nice day!

As some of you are no doubt aware, I'm part of the DrawBridge Blog where each day we nominate a topic and then do a quick ( or not quick ) drawing and post it to the blog. There is a huge amount of material on it already.
Todays topic was 'Tintin' which I have reinterpreted as a 2000AD character.
Apologies to Pat Mills and Hergé.

We like it when people comment, it's encouraging.

Thanks for your time.

PJ pretty much covered the basics of submissions. Just remember that you are not just trying to win Tharg over with the quality of your work , but also with your professional attitude. While an Editor loves to publish great work they HATE getting stiffed by an amateur newbie who hasn't got their ducks in a row yet. So there is a great deal of caution when it comes to hiring untried talent.

As people have already suggested here, it's not one submission that gets you in the door, it's a campaign of submissions, fanzine art, convention meetings. Persistence and reliability will win you a great deal of favour. Also if you are willing to put this much effort into the chase, even if your work isn't up to scratch, Tharg and his minions will be aware of you and will pay attention as you improve.

A positive and professional attitude helps too. People like to hire people they like. That may seem obvious, but it's surprising how many guys come in with a chip on their shoulder or a sense of entitlement and it's very off-putting. Don't give them a reason to ignore you.

There are lots of good people here on this forum , so you shouldn't have trouble getting good advice.

Best of luck.

If I may bother you fine folks again with some more Lilly news. The complete 'Lilly Mackenzie & the Mines of Charybdis' has gone back online at Activatecomix.com.  This is the newly revised and expanded version from the Megazine run, with a fine new lettering job by Simon Bowland. So those of you who missed the Megazine run , or if you get an iPad for Xmas, can read the whole story at your leisure , for free.

Hi Folks/

I've just posted the first chunk of Lilly Mackenzie's next adventure to the ACT-I-VATE.com website where Lilly Mackenzie & the Mines of Charybdis debuted almost 4 years ago.
The new story will be serialised on a weekly basis , every Wednesday, until I've done about 100pages. There are also plans afoot to bring it to print in a Megazine near and dear to us all. I'll keep you posted on that. In the mean time enjoy...

I'm planning on doing exactly as before, making Lilly a page a week as I do other jobs, then collecting it all in some form at the end.

Thank you all for your support so far.
