I was thinking the same thing- a male companion every now and then would be nice!

I think so. Something for the sizeable gay fan following too.

But haven't they already done a 'assistant getting married' subplopt in the Tate era?
Too soon! I exclaim.

And didn't they also do the girlfriend going missing leaving behind boyfriend and other loved ones in series 1? Does the new assistant have to be Rose all over again as well as Donna? In the old (proper) Doctor Who, companions were never missed back home because either they were all alone in the world or their relatives saw them leave.

People may disagree with me but I'm of the opinion that if a 10 year old doesn't question how a mechanical clock can reset itself to 00.00 (all the clocks in my workplace do as they are controlled centrally by wireless signal) then we should also suspend disbelief.

The clocks in the place where I work are also radio controlled, but they are very new. The hospital clock in Doctor Who looked a bit old. I think we can let them have that one though, as your explanation covers it. Setting every single clock to 0 seems a bit redundant, however, when the aliens are presumably only interested in the clocks that can be seen from space or which are broadcast via live TV.

Ooh!  Safety rails.

Just a pity the control console was so small.  :)

Back in September I started up five new GCSE courses, which I had to quit by Christmas to get another job because I was earning less as an FE teacher than I could earn as a road sweeper. My conscience was reasonably clear on leaving, because those courses were my idea and they wouldn't have run at all if I hadn't set them up.

The bad part comes when I learn that none of the four tutors they found to replace me are particularly good. Their sociology tutor teaches them stuff that's not on the syllabus as well as stuff I already covered last autumn. Their psychology tutor gives them unethical experiments to do involving the general public. Their English language tutor doesn't like literature, and their literature tutor can't mark essays because he's been used to a different exam board's marking scheme for the past 20 years and can't cope with using a new one.

Cheers to a certain LizR from a Dr Who forum for the following

LizR says all that needs to be said, really! How did that go down on the Doctor Who forum?

New Tardis? I like all that Heath Robinson stuff - the bell, the taps and typewriter, etc.

I hate it. It's a bit 1970s, like something out of Rentaghost.

Inside of the Tardis had a bit of a Jules Vern vibe to it.

True. It's a pity, because the Tardis had a much more stylish Jules Verne inspired interior 35 years ago.

No TV all day. Played with the gerbils a bit. Just finished priming the edge of the door I planed. Glued four batons around the top of the second gerbil tank. Drinking a bottle of 2005 cabernet sauvignon & shiraz: nick of time, I think; not sure how much longer that would've been good for. Looking forward to an unexpected roast dinner.

Women want jewellery. See? I told you the feminist project had failed utterly.

Where women are concerned it's always a trap.

I did some carpentry. I haven't bathed in days, but what does it matter? We've got nobody coming round, and planing, sawing and drilling is sweaty work. Had the bathroom door off its hinges and planed some off the bottom. Needs a touch of paint and re-hanging, but there's a hinged lid for a gerbil tank still to make. Gah, it never ends.
