i have pain ?900 for the full collection of 2000ad (minus 15 issues which cost me about another ?270) and ?650 for the first 3 issues in minty pristine condition with gifts (from BT)

i spend ?200 a moth on comics (but that doesnt mean i pick a comic and throw ?200 at it - i have bought whole collections in the past, for 200 squid)

the post i have paid for a uk collection is ?2k for a near complete run of 50s and 60s brit comics

and ?250 for a really bad condition copy of a reare 50s batman is the most i would consider to have paid for a comic

unfortunately i am fast running out of room and soon to invest in a warehouse or property to store it all in

they could use the same lighting as dark world (that one that looks like the crow but is about another world)

that would be cool, the early comics are amazing and have to be checked out, later they just become run of the mill (are they still going, i havent heard of any new for a while)

best thing to do is play them at their own game, i joined and left four times (after i completed my commitment), they now always the same or similar novels in the joining offer and the last time they screwed me by making all the normal club prices dearer but i still made  a fortune off the ones i did get

fines around here are getting pretty hefty actually, most libraries rely on getting at least some for part of their budget

when i used to work in a video shop, some business who went abroad a lot used to rent an old vid all the time hoping we'd let him off the fees (he often used to go away for 6 months at short notice) - my boss never did, he pay ?532 to watch crocodile dundee once at ?1.25 a day, i think ghost and some thing else really lame was another

ummm i think i was a member, i was a member of a bookclub and the initial offer is great but tehn after that...

if u join one that sends u out the wrong stuff as well, then it can be annoying - or when they run out of a title u wanted and charge u full price for another automatically

from hell is good, supreme is a bit like continuation of his miracleman thing but very tongue in cheek (cos he had the benefit of hindsight second time around)

they have just published his mad love lost girls series but i havent read that yet

rorschach is also a bit like the hood in the sense that the mask does seem to have its own identity (or rather as stated kovacs is the identity that rorschach is hiding behind)

the bit at the end where the idiot reporter finds the mask and diary is almost certainly the beginning of a loop as well (it all repeats itself ad infinitum with a new generation of heroes)

rorschach supports truman bcos he nuked hiroshima over his own beliefs and stayed true to them, rorschach is the only character that does not compromise in the end

his death of a statement on where this view can take u possibly, also its not ozzymandias that killed him but jon who can see the future - he doesnt even want the whisper and his amoral beliefs are quite happy at that point

ozzymandias was quite happy to let rorschach run off and tell the world knowing he would be dismissed as a madman, the kid no doubt becomes the next rorschach and is an example of how nature finds a way or u cant change history

there were no prequels at the time, it was midly successful on release but incredibly critically - with books and dissertations being written about it and it was the first breakthru

(as it disects what normal people would be like if they were heroes, the fact that they would have to be mega obsessive or have major emotional problems, etc)

the trade paperback did incredibly well and blew DC away, they couldnt possibly have been expecting that - everytime u read it u notice some thing else and its so deep

there has been talk of a sequel for years but i doubt it

and i agree there has been nothing as groundbreaking since

actually we have blair-ism and new labour now so...

i cant imagine morrison being too in the mood to do a decent version though, as even he doesnt seem to like the character anymore
