Ryan Reynolds killed and resurrected with Jeff Bridges as a dead cowboy ghost partner.

MIB meets Ghostbusters via Randall and Hopkirk.

Well the trailer made me laugh.

Events / Judge Minty at Sci-fi London
13 April, 2013, 01:07:01 PM
Hi,

Schedule for Sci-fi London has been posted and Minty is appearing at Stratford Picture House on the 4th May.

The programme starts at 1pm.

Unfortunately it's at the same time as Ron Smith's signing on Free Comic Book Day, but we don't have a say in the scheduling of these things.

Doesn't look like there's any UK showings yet.

Here's a preview sculpt of a certain character - it's not one of the Mongoose range but is done with their and Rebellion's approval.

Proceeds are raising money for Cancer and MS charities, the proper launch is next week but they've just set up the fb page here.

Events / London Film and Comic Con 6-8th July
29 June, 2012, 07:58:47 PM
This was posted in the Dredd film thread, but for those who don't read that thread...

Karl Urban is apparently a guest at LFCC 6-8th July

There's a Dredd presentation on the Sat and Sun

Sounds a lot more concrete than the Kapow one, but I'd keep an eye on that thread in case things change.

Creative Common / iPad drawing apps
03 April, 2012, 04:17:41 PM
Sure this has been discussed before, but wondered it it was worthwhile starting a thread on drawing apps for the iPad... I've tried a few, and nothings perfect but the top two for me are.

Sketchbook Pro

and

Sketch Club

Sketchbook Pro feels the more finished in that it has presets you can save, but Sketch Club just feels right to me.

Both suffer a little from lag, but I haven't really found anything that doesn't

Bamboo and Paper are OK for scribbles, but are very basic (Paper only has a small preset number of colours for example)

Any advance on any of these?

General / Why 5 stories?
02 March, 2012, 12:55:19 PM
Was just reading about the Best of 2000AD Monthly on another thread, and was wondering the reasoning behind the 5 story format, rather than 3 or 4 and increased page count for stories.

I can't remember what other anthologies had, whether they bumped it up to 6 or it's always been that way.

Trying to remember what happened with 3rillers - did other strips get an extra page because of it?

Cheers

Film Discussion / Lionsgate and Dredd
27 February, 2012, 02:28:12 PM
I haven't seen this confirmed anywhere but someone posted on the IMDB board that Lionsgate UK won't be handling the promotion for Dredd in the UK. Instead it's Entertainment who handled Newline releases like Lord of the Rings.

No independent source for this, so take it with a massive pinch of salt.

"It seems that motion picture distributor Entertainment Films will be acting as the company releasing Dredd in the UK rather than those incompetent cretins at Lionsgate. Entertainment's biggest release was the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, and for a good number of years were the defacto distributors for Newline Cinema movies. They also released a number of the 'Saw' films in the UK.

Personally this can only be a good thing. If you actually go to the official Lionsgate UK film website they like to keep up to date on things, with Conan 'In cinemas soon' along with Red Sonia and Kane And Lynch! "

London-centric I'm afraid, but you can submit to art to be displayed on top of these shelters dotted around London.

Can be animated gifs - obviously they'll go through some sort of vetting process, but it would be quite cool to get some Mega-city fake ads through it...

Wasn't sure if this should go in comics/books, creative commons or here...

http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2012/01/apples-ipad-textbooks-everything-you-need-to-know-about-ibooks-2-updating-live/

seems well suited to geek-themed IP, with the ability to have 3D models and multimedia in there.
