Yeah, I think the Rift is a hard sell for the masses - I'm not sure how Sony's offering compares, which is what Rebellion is developing Battlezone for I believe.

The Vive seems like a lot of grief - setting up sensors and clearing space.

The GearVR is relatively low-powered, but it's a lot less hassle - just sit on a swivel chair at most.

Not tried the compatibility thing yet - sure my PC would be OK, but would need a new graphics card - still, 3D is my work so it's easily a business expense.

Still only using it for pre-rendered stills/video of my own content anyway, so the samsung is fine - plus it's portable if I want to take it to a convention at the Planet Replicas stand - had the Mekon at life size on it, which was pretty nice.

Well, that would have been the developer's kit, which is aimed at developers.

So not really aimed at end users/consumers.

It's funny after all the hassle with creator credits, there are so many pseudonyms.

Anyone had a play with the VR products that are starting to surface?

I bought a GearVR and Samsung S6 over Christmas, and although the games I've played so far are pretty lightweight mobile ones (obviously), it's interesting to see where it goes.

There are still issues with comfort, sharpness of the screen etc, but the head tracking works really well.

Also I've managed to get stills and animations from our Stront short onto it - very cool to have a virtual Doghouse in stereo 360, with a life-size Johnny Alpha standing there.

I thought it may have been in an extreme edition, but that only mentions Hammerstein's War Memoirs.

Bothan's Eleven.

Ha that was link to Death Star Mk 2 in Return of the Jedi.

They're re-used the Death Star enough frigging times, who's to say they won't use the Bothans again?

I'm pretty sure they said they asked Mick and he didn't want to do it.

I think Steve MacManus was another who opted out, could be there were others.

They also mentioned some where it just didn't work out scheduling wise.

There was something like an 8-hour rough cut.

From what they've said it all depends on money - depends how well this sells I guess.

It wouldn't be recent by the time something got made.

It's a bit no win really - if Fury Road flopped, it would make people wary of post-apocalyptic genre, if it succeeded you get accused of jumping on the bandwagon.

Personally I think exploring the psychic/supernatural would be the way to go - Matt's year one seemed like a really good framework for a sequel.

Yeah, it would have been nice to see a few more droids who stuck around after the 90s.

I'm not sure how the running time was settled on, but an extra 20 mins covering that would have been great.
